Wise heads in business will tell you that you should watch how your customer uses your product - get behind that use case and power it up... So this is a picture of my old friend and colleague DavidPond Consulting Limited MBE setting out on his latest mission to Ukraine tomorrow with a truck he’s just raised the money for on Crowdfunder UK Because David is smart (you don’t end up a naval commodore and the CEO of one of the UK’s most successful sports charities without being smart) David has worked out one of the most effective ways of using Crowdfunder as a tool for #fundraising we’ve seen: Raising and accessing funds fast - For David’s first raise, when he was actually on the ground in Ukraine, early in the war, he was able to get early draw down so the funds were with him swiftly, meaning he could get ambulances from Poland to the warzone and deliver critical care within days. Start small, raise big - He started with a realistic target amount (his first target was £20k) to prove the model, but now his network is established, it’s allowed to raise over £100k for humanitarian aid via Crowdfunder. Do what works again - After the huge success of his first raise - raising over £45k in a matter of days, David created an ‘always on’ crowdfunder, and kept his supporters updated on his success. We saw shots of orphans receiving toys, doctors welcoming medical supplies, field kitchens to make food in the bitter cold. Result: when he wanted to raise funds for a second mission to get more ambulances, his regular supporters were 100% behind him and pledged again. Yesterday he had a £5k donation out of nowhere. Regular donations - David now has supporters who donate every month to his further missions and, because he keeps his Crowdfunder permanently open, while continuing to spread the word about the work he’s doing, people donate even when he’s not actively fundraising. Which is why tomorrow he heads out to #Ukraine again with a brilliant new truck sourced by @mercare garage to deliver aid where it’s needed most. Not everyone has as urgent a need for crisis funds as David, but there are lots of things he has done that other #charities and #NGOs could learn from when fundraising with us. https://lnkd.in/em8zxtsW Best of luck Pondy. Good crowdfunding!

When war breaks out, it's on the news, it's on our screens, it's in our daily discourse. We are seeing this right now unfolding in Gaza, and we feel helpless. We rightly need to support humanitarian efforts. But what happens when it's not in the news anymore? Does the problem go away? We all remember when #Syria was once in the news. We remember the chemical weapons, the airstrikes, the regime killing '000s of its own people. New political factions joined the fighting and created a melting pot of carnage for a decade. The power vacuum put ISIS into the CRISIS and gave birth to the worst extremism we have ever seen. Oh, and then there was an earthquake! Today, millions of Syrians are displaced, living in tents with no clean water, no sanitation. Children are suffering from psychological trauma. A generation is growing up without healthcare, without education and without hope. We then wonder why they want to risk their lives to come to places like the UK. I have been hugely impressed by the work I have seen from NGOs like Action For Humanity - International. Their village project will see the building of 750 homes for 4,000 people, along with a medical centre, school and amenities. I went to visit a village project already completed and it was transformational. The people who previously were living hand to mouth, were now living with hope. They still had the memories and the trauma, but they now had the basics to rebuild their future. Please join Invatech Health Ltd to help raise money for this life-changing project. Dear LinkedIn network, I am striding for Gaza in aid of Medical Aid for Palestinians. In 19 days I will run the distance between Gaza and Occupied East Jerusalem (95km), a journey prohibited for Palestinians living under occupation and as refugees. Any donation, big or small would be greatly appreciated :) For context, here is a harrowing, heartbreaking account on the state of medical care in Gaza, by Médecins Sans Frontières: “There are not enough hospital beds, not enough medications, and not enough supplies. Surgeons have had no choice but to carry out amputations without anaesthesia, on children. Our surgeons are running out of basic gauze to stop their patients from bleeding out. They use it once, squeeze out the blood, wash it, sterilize it, and reuse it for the next patient. The humanitarian crisis in Gaza has left pregnant women without medical care for months. Women in labour cannot reach functional delivery rooms. They are giving birth in plastic tents and public buildings. Medical teams have added a new acronym to their vocabulary: WCNSF— wounded child, no surviving family. Children who survive this war will not only bear the visible wounds of traumatic injuries but the invisible ones, too—those of repeated displacement, constant fear, and witnessing family members literally dismembered before their eyes. These psychological injuries have led children as young as five to tell us they would prefer to die.” (https://lnkd.in/gFNGaWfs) https://lnkd.in/ggm6e4Tg

Approximately 5% of pregnant and breastfeeding women in #Gaza are experiencing a deficiency in essential micronutrients crucial for their health and the health of their babies. An alarming estimated figure of 15,000 pregnant women in Gaza currently face the imminent threat of famine. With six months of ongoing conflict, there is an urgent call for a ceasefire to ensure the safety and well-being of these vulnerable women, along with immediate access to vital humanitarian aid. Please consider donating to support pregnant women by providing essential anesthesia to hospitals and supplying crucial food aid and hygiene packs https://lnkd.in/d4SvU2Uz

Realistically there will always be a gap between need and funding in the humanitarian sector. How can we do more for the nearly 300 million people worldwide who need aid? Maximize impact for every dollar spent. Justin Labeille and Jeannie Annan of the International Rescue Committee write about how IRC measures its cost-effectiveness and how the organization is nurturing a culture of costing at other humanitarian organizations: “Embracing evidence is a choice to keep impact and people at the center of our work. The humanitarian sector needs more funding to meet devastating needs. But it could reach millions more people—with the resources currently available—if we focused on more cost-effective interventions and more cost-efficient delivery.” #impact #nonprofits #humanitarianaid #donors

🌍 Humanitarian Aid and Infant Formula in Ukraine: Unpacking the Reality Behind the Noble Gesture In Ukraine, I I often see infant formula included in humanitarian aid, proudly handed over by well-meaning philanthropists to maternity wards or communities. Photos of these "generous gifts" fill social feeds, initially appearing as a noble gesture. But friends, there’s a deeper story here that needs to be told. 🧐 🔺 The Reality Check: Donating infant formula may seem helpful, but it violate the International Code of Marketing of Breast-milk Substitutes and pose serious risks to infants—especially in conflict zones. 1️⃣ Risk #1: Power and Storage Challenges Frequent power outages across Ukraine make it nearly impossible to safely prepare and store infant formula. Proper preparation requires sterilizing bottles, boiling clean water, cooling it to 70°C, mixing it with formula powder, and cooling it further to a safe drinking temperature. Imagine trying to manage this process in a bomb shelter or without reliable electricity. It’s often just not feasible. 2️⃣ Risk #2: Clean Water Is Essential Preparing formula requires absolutely pure water, as infants' kidneys can't filter out impurities like adults can. Water deemed safe for adults may still be harmful to infants, leading to severe infections or even fatalities. In war zones, where clean water is scarce, this risk becomes critical. 2️⃣ Risk #3: The annual cost of infant formula can exceed 50,000 UAH per child, according to Oleksandra Kashchenko, IBCLC. In Ukraine’s current conditions, this cost is unaffordable for most families. The Conclusion: During crises, breastfeeding remains the safest way to nourish infants, while formula feeding can introduce life-threatening risks. This is why formula distribution as humanitarian aid should be scrutinized and reported to specialized bodies (https://lnkd.in/dTmsvqNH) to prevent these risky donations. Let's raise awareness on this issue to protect the youngest and most vulnerable. #Ukraine #HumanitarianAid #BreastfeedingSupport #InfantHealth #InternationalCode #BreastmilkSubstitutes #ConflictZone

Urgent Aid for Hashem's Family to Reach Safety and Rebuild I am Hashem Ziyad Safi - I live in Gaza, a medical student at IUG, and my dream is to become a skilled doctor and serve my country. I was half way through my medical studies before this devastating war began, shattering all my hopes and dreams. We are a family consisting of 9 people - Mom, Dad, me, 2 brothers - Ahmed and Abdullah, my younger sister Misk, and my older sister Yara who is married and has a 9-month old daughter who was born a week before the war. Before the war, we really lived a beautiful life. We had our dreams, our goals, our home, and a wonderful life, but everything is truly over now. Yara studied IT and graduated university just before the war, she is a painter and loves to draw. Ahmed was in his last year of high school and loves video games - he used to be introverted and youthful, but this war has forced him to become a man. Misk is in middle school, she loves reading, reciting, cooking, and writing - we admire her for spending her time in the war still reading as much as she can. Abdullah, my youngest brother, is just a child - he cannot understand the horrors we are enduring and is struggling with severe depression. And I was passionately studying medicine, so eager to achieve my dream… One day, we still hope to recover these dreams and fulfill our ambitions once we reach safety and can recover from the horrible ailments we suffer from this war. But we have been forced to start our lives over again from scratch. We are raising $54,000 USD to evacuate together as a family, receive urgently needed medical care, and start a new life in Egypt away from this violence and horror. The registration fee to evacuate is $5,000 per adult and $2,500 per child (under 16 years old). The funds raised will be used for the following: $25,000 to evacuate me (Hashem), my parents, and my 3 younger siblings - Thanks to your support, we have completed this initial goal $12,500 to evacuate my older sister Yara, her husband, and her baby - This is our top priority now, we urgently need to raise the money for her family to leave with us $8,000 to cover costs when we arrive in Egypt - including medical care, food, and housing $8,500 to cover transaction, withdrawal, transfer, and conversion fees and taxes Any amount that you can donate to support us (even $5 or $10) is highly appreciated and brings us one step closer to the life of peace and safety we desperately seek. If you cannot donate, please consider sharing this page with others or engaging with our social media content (@hashem_saf125, @mehvs_, and @robinsabeen on Instagram). Thank you so much for your support! Your contributions give us hope and help us feel like there is still some humanity in this unjust world. https://gofund.me/0a094f2a
