Lead Teacher,IDF Veteran 🇮🇱🇺🇸,

For those who accuse Israel of genocide in Gaza or Lebanon, this acknowledgment should prompt a reevaluation. True genocide involves systematic extermination, as seen in historical atrocities such as the Holocaust or the Rwandan Genocide. Israel’s actions, however, aim to neutralize threats like Hamas and Hezbollah—groups that use civilians as shields—while adhering to international law and prioritizing civilian safety. Maybe critics should focus on the Hamas and Hezbollah for thier war crimes: those who use their own civilians as shields and intentionally target others, instead of Israeli that is trying to defend itself while reducing harm. A Syrian citizen recently praised the honorable way in which Israel conducts its military operations against Lebanon, highlighting Israel's efforts to warn civilians in advance of impending attacks. In stark contrast, he noted that during the Syrian civil war, when Bashar al-Assad and his allies—Hezbollah and Shia militias—were involved in the fighting, there was no such regard for civilians. Instead, they deliberately targeted non-combatants, demonstrating a complete disregard for human life. Interestingly, the IDF's Arabic-language spokesperson, Avichay Adraee, has received particular appreciation for his role in communicating with the Arab world. It is heartening to receive such recognition from a citizen of a country that remains formally at war with Israel.
