DEWA’s R&D Centre launches its fourth Transactions Report Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA)’s Research and Development (R&D) Centre has published its fourth Transactions Report, highlighting the Scopus Indexed scientific and research papers presented at international conferences and journals in 2023. The report includes 71 research papers, marking a 14.5% increase compared to the previous year. The articles cover topics such as solar energy, water, energy efficiency, smart grid integration, Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies, space technologies, and energy systems analysis. DEWA has received many awards in recognition of the R&D Centre’s scientific contributions. IES Ltd. partnered with the UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure to explore the use of its innovative Intelligent Communities Lifecycle (ICL) digital twin technology to help create a net-zero or positive energy block (PEB) for a new development proposed by the UAE government. This pilot project showed that the PEB methodology can be implemented more widely in the UAE with results that, if extrapolated, exceed the national environmental goals in term of GHG emission reduction. Compared to the goals set in the 2050 UAE Energy strategy (50% of clean energy production by 2050) or in the UAE Vision 2021 (27% of clean energy production by 2021), this project shows that it is possible to have 93.7% of the Campus’s energy consumption coming from on-site clean energy. #ArctechProject On 17th October, #Arctech signed a 2.3 GW supply deal for its signature #1P single-axis #solartracking system #SkyLineII with China Energy Engineering Group Co. Ltd. (#CEEC) at the 2024 International Engineering Supply Chain Development Conference & Exhibition held in Xiamen, China. According to the deal, #Arctech will supply #solartracker SkyLine II with a capacity of 2.3 GW for the #PIF4 project owned by ACWA Power. This project is situated in Taif City, located in the Hadi District of Makkah Province, #SaudiArabia. This desert region often experiences high winds; however, thanks to Arctech's innovative synchronous #multipoint drive mechanism, SkyLine II can operate effectively under such adverse conditions. For instance, it features a wind stow mode that allows horizontal stowing even in winds up to 22m/s. This capability enhances #powergeneration and overall return on investment (ROI) throughout the lifespan of the #powerplant. Upon completion, this project is estimated to generate a total of approximately 156.189 billion kilowatt-hours over 25 years, equivalent to a reduction of nearly 147 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions, which will greatly contribute towards Saudi Arabia's goal of achieving "#2030Vision". #solar #solarpower #solarPV #solarenergy #solartrackers #trackingsystem #renewables #renewableenergy

The seven markets monitored by EUPD Research in the Middle east managed to install more than 5 GWs of new PV. Three markets managed to enter the GW range of installations last year: ·     United Arab Emirates (2.43 GW) ·     Saudi Arabia (1.15 GW) ·     And Israel (1.10 GW) These three PV heavyweights accounted for more than 90% of all the PV installations in the region and are expected to continue their upward trend in 2024. EUPD Research forecasts 2024 to be another record year for the region with around 7 GW of new PV systems to be installed. The rising star in 2024 is expected to be Oman with 1.6 GW of PV installations.
