MHR is delighted to have been in attendance at the National Tuberculosis Conference 2024 themed "Public-Private Partnership and Integrated Service Delivery: Panacea to End TB in Nigeria." The conference provided an invaluable platform for stakeholders to deliberate on critical issues in TB control, emphasizing the importance of intersectoral and institutional collaboration in ending TB in Nigeria. Attendees included representatives from government MDAs, parliamentarians, professional associations, development partners, academia, private sector organizations, CSOs, TB/HIV-affected communities, and many more. A standout moment was the commissioning of TB testing equipment by the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Remi Tinubu, funded through her remarkable 1-billion-Naira donation to address gaps in TB diagnosis and response. Speakers highlighted Nigeria’s significant progress in TB case-finding and treatment while addressing ongoing challenges such as funding gaps, stigma, low awareness, and resource mobilization. The conference echoed a strong call to action for stakeholders to innovate and collaborate to achieve the goal of ending TB in Nigeria. MHR remains committed to contributing to this shared vision by fostering partnerships and supporting initiatives that drive impactful change in TB control and public health. #TBConference #GEF #TB #HIV #AccessToHealthcare

Today, on World TB Day, we come together to reflect on our collective efforts and progress toward a TB-free generation!!! As we commemorate this day, it is crucial to recognize the strides we have made and the challenges that lie ahead in our mission to eradicate TB and create a healthier world for all. Over the years, tremendous efforts have been made to combat TB, from ground-breaking research and innovative treatments to enhanced prevention strategies and increased awareness. These efforts have not only saved countless lives but have also brought us closer to our goal One of the key pillars of our approach has been ensuring access to quality healthcare services for all, especially in underserved and remote communities. Through initiatives that promote early detection, timely treatment, and comprehensive care, we are working tirelessly to reach every individual affected by TB, leaving no one behind. Technologies such as AI-enabled mobile X-ray play a pivotal role in identifying TB cases in rural remote areas, enabling early detection and reducing transmission rates. At Caritas Nigeria, we are committed to intensifying our efforts, enhancing collaborations, and rallying resources to expedite advancements and realize our collective vision of creating a generation free from tuberculosis.#NOGreeforTB

In the fight against tuberculosis (TB), collaborative efforts and innovative strategies are essential. The National TB and Leprosy Elimination Program is making strides through the FAST strategy, supported by the JSI Research and Training Institute via the Tuberculosis Implementation Framework Agreement (TIFA). This initiative focuses on systematic TB screening and contact investigation to boost facility-based TB case notifications. Currently targeting 29 health facilities across seven districts in Malawi, the project has deployed dedicated volunteers to conduct TB screenings and facilitate contact investigations. These unsung heroes ensure no one falls through the cracks in accessing TB diagnosis and care. I recently had the privilege of attending a second performance review meeting with key staff from three implementing districts. This gathering offered a platform for volunteers to present their facility-level achievements, challenges, and progress over two quarters. What stood out was the remarkable improvement in TB screening and case detection across most facilities, an encouraging testament to the effectiveness of this intervention. The meeting was not just about data; it was a dynamic exchange of knowledge, experiences, and strategies. It allowed teams to learn from each other, tackle challenges collaboratively, and celebrate the milestones achieved. Moments like these remind us that the fight against TB is not only about policies and protocols but also about the collective commitment of individuals and communities to make a difference. As we continue working toward the global goal of ending TB by 2030, interventions like this exemplify what is possible when dedicated individuals, robust strategies, and community collaboration come together. A massive thank you to the tireless volunteers and healthcare workers on the frontlines of the TB fight ‼️ Your dedication is inspiring 😊 #EndTB #PublicHealth #Malawi

According to WHO 2022, malaria is a serious public health concern in Nigeria, accounting for an anticipated 68 million cases and 194 000 deaths in 2021. Nigeria has the world's greatest malaria load, accounting for roughly 27% of the global total. As part of YEDI's commitment to eliminating malaria in Nigeria, the YEDI’s SKILLZ program has reached over 450,000 adolescents in Nigeria with accurate and understandable messaging. In addition, YEDI conducts community medical outreaches in hard-to-reach areas, providing free medical services and bednets. This has reached over 10 000. To continue with this laudable project, YEDI is seeking partners around the world to reduce the malaria burden in Nigeria, promote malaria elimination in the country and to ensure the good life and wellbeing of the people. Society For Awareness and Family Initiative (SAFI) is dedicated to championing the crucial role of families in society, recognizing them as the bedrock upon which thriving communities are built. As we unite with the global community to support this year's theme, "Yes we can End TB," SAFI stands in solidarity with fellow civil society organizations (CSOs), governmental bodies, international donor organizations, and stakeholders to address the pressing issue of undetected Tuberculosis (TB) cases in Nigeria. In addition to our collaborative efforts, SAFI emphasizes the pivotal role of individual families in detecting and addressing TB symptoms within their communities. It's imperative for family members to remain vigilant and proactive in recognizing potential signs of TB. Some common symptoms include persistent coughing, chest pain, fever, night sweats, and unexplained weight loss. Encouraging family members to seek medical attention promptly upon experiencing any of these symptoms is vital. Furthermore, SAFI advises families to familiarize themselves with the free TB treatment services available in Nigeria. By promptly reporting symptoms and seeking medical assistance, individuals can access timely diagnosis and treatment, ultimately contributing to the eradication of TB within their communities. Together, through collective action and individual responsibility, we can make significant strides towards ending TB in Nigeria and safeguarding the well-being of families nationwide. Let us unite in this noble endeavor to create a healthier, more resilient society for generations to come.

🌍 World TB Day Reflections from RSPN: A United Front Against Tuberculosis in Sindh, Pakistan 🌍 As we commemorated World TB Day, the Rural Support Programmes Network (RSPN) felt immense pride in joining forces with JSI, Contech International Health Consultants, and other vital partners to mark this significant occasion across 15 project districts, notably with a central celebration in Karachi. This initiative is a cornerstone of the "Community Mobilization, Facilitation, Demand Creation, and Supporting the Provincial TB Control Program in Sindh, Pakistan" project. Our concerted efforts aim to address the tuberculosis challenge in one of Pakistan's most vulnerable regions, backed by the generous support of USAID. Our gathering in Karachi was graced by the presence of distinguished guests, including the Deputy Director-General of Health Services Sindh, the Additional DG of CDC, and esteemed advisors and program managers from JSI. The participation of healthcare professionals, community leaders, and families who are directly benefiting from our interventions, culminating in a community awareness walk, was a testament to our united commitment to overcoming TB and enhancing public knowledge on this critical health issue. At the heart of these efforts is a project, championed by #JSI and funded by #USAID, that is forging ahead in improving TB management through innovative measures. These include the deployment of specially-equipped mobile vans for diagnostics and treatment, the amplification of community awareness, and the active engagement of communities in TB case finding and management. Our goals are ambitious but clear: to mobilize communities for active TB case detection, boost TB awareness, and more effectively manage latent TB infections, especially among children and families of TB patients. Covering 15 districts in Sindh, our work is with community networks, healthcare providers, and local government units, ensuring a holistic approach to TB prevention and treatment. Through these endeavors, RSPN aims not only to achieve our project objectives but also to contribute meaningfully to the global battle against TB. This highlights the immense power of collaboration and community engagement in transforming public health landscapes. #WorldTBDay #EndTB #PublicHealth #CommunityEngagement #RSPN
