🎗️ March is Myeloma Action Month! 🎗️ This March, we at Excerpta Medica proudly support Myeloma Action Month, a crucial global initiative aimed at raising awareness about multiple myeloma, an often overlooked and misunderstood form of blood cancer. As a medical communications agency committed to elevating healthcare knowledge, we understand the power of information in transforming lives. Multiple myeloma affects plasma cells in the bone marrow, leading to a range of symptoms that can impact a person’s quality of life. Early diagnosis and treatment are key to improving outcomes, yet awareness remains low. We stand in solidarity with patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals worldwide. By spreading knowledge and encouraging open conversations, we can empower those affected by multiple myeloma to seek the care they need and deserve. Together, we can make a difference. #MYelomaACTIONMonth #MultipleMyelomaAwareness #ExcerptaMedica #MedicalAwareness #GoodAloneGreatTogether #medcomms

🎉 CodeX's inaugural use case, EHR Endpoints for Cancer Clinical Trials, better known as ICAREdata, is coming to a successful close. Starting in 2018, the use case sought to use mCODE (minimal Common Oncology Data Elements) to collect, extract, and transmit key outcome data for clinical research. ICAREdata demonstrated the feasibility of using real-world data in multi-institutional cancer clinical trials. 📅 Join us at the CodeX Community of Practice, December 13 at 12pm ET to learn about ICAREdata's successes and lessons learned. Register here: https://lnkd.in/gKJrnSr6 ⭐️ CodeX continues exploring how real-world data can transform clinical trials in our newest use case, Data-DIRECT. 5 Lessons I’ve Learned in the Last Decade as a BRCA2 Previvor and Professor 1. Information is powerful, but more information isn’t always better. We need to find trustworthy and credible information about cancer prevention and treatment but also about psychosocial aspects of living with hereditary cancer. 2. Information changes. We live in an era of evolving cancer information. As a researcher, this is encouraging because it means we are identifying new treatments and mechanisms for improving and saving lives. As a patient, this means I must continually reassess and talk to my clinicians. 3. We must actively participate in our medical encounters. We ask questions even when we are embarrassed. We bring information to our appointments even when we found them online. We talk to our doctors to make sure we understand how information relates to our lives. 4. Emotions are a part of a journey with hereditary cancer. Not only must we manage our own emotions, but our family members’ emotions may also influence us at times. We don’t always know what someone is going through, so we cut our family members slack. 5. Sharing genetic risk information is not a “one and done conversation.” Effective communication about hereditary cancer with family members requires multiple conversations over years. While we can’t control how our family members react, we can share information in stages to help reduce information overload and to help continue our relationships. #HereditaryCancer #BRCA #Previvor #NHCW #NationalHereditaryCancerWeek
