As highlighted by the Washington Post in March 2024, western firms bought hundreds of millions of dollars of titanium metal from Russia after the 2022 invasion of Ukraine, according to a review of Russian export data. Russian President Vladimir Putin's statement overnight that Moscow should consider limiting exports of titanium in retaliation for Western sanctions will further tighten already stretched global titanium supply chains, particularly for the aerospace sector. For this reason IperionX's mission has been to re-shore an end-to-end U.S. source of titanium for domestic applications, including for the aerospace, defense and automotive industries.
