Many owl species, like the Great Horned Owl and the Eastern Screech Owl, roost in trees during the day and nap in trees at night. Although they are nocturnal hunters, they have been observed resting and sleeping during the night, particularly after feeding to help manage their energy. We encourage you to take action to reduce light pollution around your home and community! The simplest solution? Turn off your outdoor lights at night! Using timers and motion sensors to ensure light at night is only being used when it is needed is a simple first step to helping birds and nocturnal environments. Be sure to check out our blog post about light pollution and bird migration. https://bit.ly/4btVIJf #DiscoverTheNight #DarkSky #DarkSkyInternational #SaveTheNight #NightMatters #LightPollution #TakeAction #ROLAN #BirdMigration

Why Trees Matter – The Power of Small Actions Why Trees? 🌲 The Power of Reforestation At Regreenity, we know that planting trees has an incredible impact on our planet. Each tree we plant absorbs carbon dioxide, improves air quality, and restores habitats for wildlife. Our goal is to plant 10 million trees—and we’re just getting started. 🌱 Every tree planted helps create a healthier world for future generations. Later this week, we’ll share how you can help us plant fresh air, one tree at a time. 🌍 Stay tuned! #PlantTrees #Regreenity #EcoImpact #ClimateAction

Some of the benefits of forests are more popular than others. Carbon sequestration usually gets all the spotlight, but trees do so much more than they get credit for. For example, this beautiful property is quite close to the main road, so the noise polution coming in is quite bothersome. So, last week we came in and planted a sound buffer forest. In about 18 months, the forest will be tall and thick enough to create a barrier that will reduce the noise considerably. Not to mention, it will cover up that not so beautiful brick wall. Forest are the solution to a lot of our problems. We just need to swtich our perspective and understand we can very easily incoporate nature into our cities. It's actually quite simple. #naturebasedsolutions #reforestation #sustainability #miyawaki

A middle ground between spontaneous natural regeneration and traditional tree-planting, assisted natural regeneration (ANR) is a set of ecosystem restoration techniques where local people leaning on their knowledge of the land and on ancestral or local traditions help trees and native vegetation naturally recover by eliminating threats to their growth and survival, https://lnkd.in/ddsj4YW #gpi2050
Nature has a magical power to regenerate itself, Even landscapes that have suffered from decades of severe #deforestation and degradation can recover their function, bring back lost #biodiversity, and store planet-warming CO2 When you think about restoring a deforested patch of land, you likely picture someone digging holes in the ground and planting seeds or saplings, Planting trees is important (if it’s done the right way), but in many cases, it’s better and cheaper to let trees grow on their own and forests restore themselves with little human assistance, 🌲🌳🌱🌴 💚

Have you ever stood on a mountaintop and felt tiny compared to the vastness of nature? Or maybe gotten mesmerized by a pod of dolphins leaping through the waves? Our planet is full of incredible places and creatures, but lately, they haven't been doing so well. Habitat loss, pollution, it's a real bummer. The good news is, we can be champions for these amazing wild places and creatures! Conservation is all about protecting these irreplaceable parts of our planet, from towering redwood forests to herds of majestic elephants. By supporting organizations that work tirelessly to conserve these areas, we can make a real difference. Maybe you can volunteer at a local park cleanup, choose eco-friendly travel options when you explore new places, or simply spread the word about the importance of protecting our natural heritage. Every little bit counts! The more we fight for conservation, the more amazing wild places we get to share with future generations. Imagine a world where these natural wonders are thriving, teeming with life and beauty. Pretty incredible, right? Let's show our love for the Earth by protecting the wild places and creatures that call it home. Together, we can ensure a planet teeming with life for generations to come! #Conservation #NaturePreservation #WildlifeProtection #SaveOurPlanet #ProtectOurEarth

Today is the Autumn Equinox, meaning we're going to be noticing much shorter days and longer nights! This time of year is an important transition for migratory birds. The increase in artificial light can disrupt their natural navigation. Many birds rely on the stars to guide their journeys, and light pollution can lead them off course, affecting their migration patterns and survival. Nearly 20% of birds migrate, and of this group, 80% travel at night. At YWS, we’re dedicated to protecting these native species and raising awareness about the impacts of light pollution. You can help by turning off unnecessary lights at night and using shades that minimize light spills. 🍂💫🌌 #LightPollution #MigratoryBirds #AutumnEquinox #WildlifeConservation

Today is World Nature Conservation Day. Without nature, life for humans would, well, not exist! We rely on nature for essential services. 🌍 Toilet paper! Nearly 27,000 trees are cut down every day for it (Nat Geo) 🌍 Air. >50% of the oxygen you breathe comes from phytoplankton and seaweed 🌍 Food. Without pollinators and soil there would be no humans 🌍 Water. Our lakes and rivers provide us with freshwater to drink What can your or your green team do? 🌍 Go green with your pension (most are invested in fossil fuels) 🌍 Plant a pocket forest in your community - even 5 trees will make a difference 🌍 Use Ecosia instead of Google and plant trees with your search! 🌍 Get on your bike! Or walk, run, get the bus or car pool 🌍 The general rule is, what’s good for you is good for the planet! #worldnatureconservationday #worldnatureconservationday2024
