Interesting podcast for anyone curious about Product Management… Over the course of my CRE career, I’ve held delivery roles, “Subject Matter Expert” (SME) roles, and more recently, made the leap into Product Management. Looking back, some of Marty Cagan’s insights would have been invaluable in the early days—not just for understanding the mechanics of product management, but also ensuring we had the right support, leadership, and structure to succeed. The podcast shines a bright light on common pitfalls I experienced firsthand when stepping into the role. While I wouldn’t trade the lessons learned, being aware of these common issues early on could have helped us avoid missteps and deliver greater impact from the start. Three Key Takeaways that really stood out for me included… 1) Beware of inflated teams and “product management theatre.” (~12min) 2) Focus on building empowered product teams and understanding the difference between “feature teams” and true product teams. (~18min) 3) Clearly define and communicate the Product Strategy to set teams up for success. (~1hr13min) It’s a thought-provoking listen—well worth the time for anyone navigating or building a product management function! #cre #productmanagement #phorkast https://lnkd.in/gSbeEUaK
