Are we witnessing the death of Australia's global mining leadership? In the space of a few short weeks; we have witnessed: 1. A Unilateral, ideological decision by the PM on Jabiluka; now the subject of legal action 2. Mass outcry about the potential re-unionisation of the Pilbara (and other minesites). 3. Broad concern over the "Nature Positive" changes to the EPBC Act; so much backlash that Labor have been forced to make some changes and trickle feed them in. 4. Tanya Plibersek's cancellation of the Regis Resources gold project in NSW. No wonder the mining Industry is turning its back on Australia for new investment. Make no mistake - all Australians standards of living will be negatively affected by this.

We have published a review of the Heavy Mineral Sands space which, despite being enormous, flies beneath the radars on many mining investors. While seemingly a calm space, without precipitous price moves in the commodities (#titanium & #zircon), there is a lot of manoeuvring going on by major players and #M&A (and other deal-doing) is picking up the pace. Its a space where the Chinese are major players, but are dependent almost exclusively for their non-domestic sources upon foreign companies, rather than owning assets overseas themselves. We include a case study on Sheffield Resources Ltd, where we look at its travails and triumphs in its first year of production at the Thunderbird mine in WA. #mineralsands https://lnkd.in/eiKBTFuq

In addition to the near-term, cash-generative potential of the London Wall claims, Pambili is encouraged by the upside potential in their geological setting. The claims are underlain by a regional dolerite sill (marked by the dotted line in the attached image). The belief is this sill has acted as a protective barrier to substantial, untapped #gold mineralization beneath. Regional mines that have successfully mined through the sill have run to significant depths (>1,000m in several cases). London Wall’s West Shaft extends through the sill, with unverified samples returning encouraging historic grades. By completing more extensive exploration, drilling, and development beneath the sill, $PNN will establish the potential for underground mining on a much larger scale.

Thrilled to have the opportunity to share insights on the potential rewards of re-opening past producing mines at this year's PDAC 2024 in Toronto. Throughout my time in mining, I've witnessed the immense potential for substantial rewards that lie within this niche. Investors and stakeholders alike stand to benefit from this lucrative opportunity. However, as Mike Tyson famously said, "everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth." Re-opening mines comes with risks and challenges, necessitating planning and risk mitigation strategies. Native title groups hosting Australia’s iron ore industry are holding more than $1 billion of net assets in trusts, but after 30 years of the native title regime, there is little to show for the vast majority of Indigenous Australians. BC - The Comeback Kid of Copper Mining! For a long time, British Columbia (BC) was perceived as a region of low-grade porphyries. However, BC benefits from low-cost power, strong infrastructure in many regions, and a long history of mining. These factors contribute to the use of low cut-off grades, which naturally lower the average grade of deposits. Unfortunately, many companies focus solely on grade and mistakenly confuse it with the overall economics of a project. Ultimately, mining comes down to the Net Smelter Return (NSR) and profit margin. I recall noticing in 2017/2018 that major miners began exploring and signing deals in BC. Until recently, few majors wanted to take on equity, with the exception of Teck Resources Limited, which, over the years, Teck did quite well executing on this strategy. Recently, South32 made a substantial investment in American Eagle Gold. I am very happy to see this change in attitudes in the industry. It brings optimism that the industry is adapting - financing good projects with even better teams to execute a vision. #Mining #BritishColumbia #Copper #ProfitMargin #NaturalResources
