#MAA was founded as a #grassroots #nonprofit by a group of parents who had had enough◾️Enough with being told by the #DoD that our children’s #autism therapy (applied behavior analysis services) wouldn’t be covered as a TRICARE basic benefit but would remain under study as a demonstration project◾️Enough with being told that to qualify for the demonstration and continue receiving ABA services, parents had to take a stress assessment every 6 months◾️Enough waiting for the DoD to recognize ABA services as an essential medical service just like all 50 states have already done◾️We took the first step in 2021 and formed MAA◾️What first step will you take to create #change? #MakeADifference #createchange #militaryfamily #missionalphaadvocacy #tricare #aba #acd #military

Getting this app off the ground has been one of my toughest challenges—until I had a heart attack. That moment made me realize just how crucial this app could be if it were already in the hands of first responders. This tool has the power to help, but it’s been an uphill battle to bring it to life. I won’t stop pushing until every first responder can access it for their #healing. We don’t often discuss #PTSD, #suicide, or the heavy #stress we carry because we’re expected to be strong, to serve others. But it’s time we help each other, reaching our #brothers and #sisters before it’s too late. If you or someone you know is interested in funding or investing, please message me. #Together, let’s make a #difference. #mentalevolution #mentalhealth #letsmakeadifference #letsgetitdone #makingchanges #gamechanger #letsgo #followforfollowback #followformore #followme #invest #donate #greatcause #explorepage #explore #digitalfootprints #firstresponders #correctionsofficers #paramedics #doctors #nurses #firefighters #dispatchers #medics #military #wearethebridge #thebridge EVERYONE! The DoD has partnered with other government agencies, non-profit organizations, and private sector companies to expand the range of resources available to service members during their transition. These partnerships help ensure that service members have access to a wide range of support services, including education and training programs, employment opportunities, and mental health services. The Department of Defense (DoD) is committed to ensuring that service members have a successful transition to civilian life. This commitment is reflected in various government initiatives and programs aimed at bettering the service member's transition process. #DoD #EducateRelate #MilitaryTransition

Prison education programs have roots dating back to the 1800s! Initially focused on religious instruction, these early programs evolved over the years, emphasizing literacy, vocational training, and personal development. Today, organizations like the Freedom to Choose Project are revolutionizing prison rehabilitation through innovative methods that equip incarcerated individuals with tools for self-reflection, emotional intelligence, and life-changing skills. By emphasizing education and healing, we strive to end the cycle of incarceration and create brighter futures for individuals, their families, and our communities. 📚 #PrisonEducation #incarcerated #incarceration #prisonreform #prisoneducation #nonprofit

It’s Volunteers’ Week 💚 This celebration is a chance to recognise, celebrate and show appreciation for volunteers and all they contribute to our communities and societies. Volunteers’ Week was first established in 1984, by what was then known as Volunteering England, and this year marks the 40th anniversary. I wanted to take this opportunity to celebrate the work of Samaritans. There are 23,000 volunteers throughout the UK; answering calls, running the 200 nationwide branches; and fundraising to keep this vital service accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Samaritans’ vision is that fewer people die by suicide. It’s not only there for moments of crisis, however, but for times when life is difficult and getting you down, when a listening ear might help you before you get to crisis point. And that’s what the volunteers do – listen with empathy and without judgement. As well as listening on phones, on email, online, Samaritans work with prisons, schools, colleges, hospitals, military, railways and other outreach programmes. In 2023, Samaritans volunteers responded to more than 3.3 million calls, responding to a call for help every 10 seconds! Question: What types of initiatives does the OCC Project support? Answer: The primary mission of Operation Child Care Project is any initiative that contributes to the equity and accessibility of child care for military and veteran families. This predominately takes place in the form of case management and advocacy. However, we know that child care impacts all areas of life, including recruitment and retention. As a result, we shift our programming to fit what families tell us they need. The mission of Operation Child Care Project, a 501(c)(3) non-profit, is to ensure that military families have access to affordable, high-quality child care options, empowering them to pursue their career goals and create stable environments for their quality of life. We strive to bridge the gap between the demand and availability of child care services through data-driven decision-making, authentic storytelling, and advocacy. Thank you We Are Feminist Leaders for amplifying our most recent blog, "Nonprofit Leadership Development During a Time of Genocide." Read here: https://lnkd.in/gSj4j4_Y
As tens of thousands of people continue to be killed in G@za. As schools and shelters are targeted and bombed. As our leaders continue to send billions of dollars of military funding to Izr@el. What does it mean to be a non profit leader during a time of gen0cide? Perhaps non-profit leaders are thinking - well, my organisation doesn't work on this issue, what can I do? We are grateful to Learkana C., who reminds us that no matter where we work, staying silent and complicit is not an option. Link to their article in the comments below.
