We have just published our annual GM Equality Alliance Evaluation Report - and it is a good one, I am amazed at how much has been achieved in 1 year! The focus of the alliance is to: To ensure equality, diversity and inclusion are at the forefront of decision making at the highest levels in all governance structures across the Greater Manchester sub- region. 🌍✨ Celebrating National Inclusion Week! ✨🌍 It was great to see so many people embracing this important week, I'm proud to reflect on the strides we've made at Leap_BMK in putting Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) at the forefront of our work. Over the past financial year, we've seen good progress in our D&I initiatives: 📈 Increased Training: In 2022/23, our team dedicated 27 hours to D&I training, which accounted for 12% of our total training hours. Fast forward to 2023/24, and we’ve ramped up our commitment, completing 83 hours — 30% of our total training! This growth not only highlights our dedication but also the team’s enthusiasm to learn and engage with these vital topics. 🗣️ Ongoing Conversations: We’ve made D&I a standing agenda item at our monthly team meetings. This ensures that discussions around inclusion are not just an afterthought, but a fundamental part of our team culture. 🎬 Taking action: Furthermore, we’re proud to have developed a Diversity and Inclusion Action Plan that outlines our equality ambitions and aligns with the Code for Sports Governance and our public sector equality duties. This plan is a significant step toward creating a workplace and sector where everyone can thrive. These efforts are more than just numbers—they reflect our commitment to fostering an environment where every voice is heard and valued. Together, we're building a more inclusive workplace, and I’m excited to see where this journey takes us next! Many equality, diversity, and inclusion practices in the UK are ineffective because they’re not grounded in evidence, according to a new report by a government-appointed panel advised by WAPPP co-director Iris Bohnet. The panel hopes to reverse this trend through the report recommendations, which include a framework to empower organizations to put evidence at the heart of decisions around EDI, and a call for UK government to develop an independent toolkit to support employers in this work.
