It was a great time dedicated to connectivity by #Rail of Eastern part of Europe in the future. To rest of the Europe. To Middle East region. To Asia. Main insights were about #railways projects in Balkans, #passenger development with #highspeed lines, passenger #ticketing solution, #freight operations powered by #digital with the #DAC.

📣 This afternoon in Paris #UICrail and the SEESARI South East Europe Strategic Alliance for Rail Innovation hosted the SEESARI workshop under the theme “Railway Development Potentials in South East Europe.” Welcomed by SEESARI Chairman Peter Verlič, Director Europe Sandra Gehenot, the aim of the meeting was to discuss and explore the vast opportunities and challenges associated with railway development in South East Europe and how to collectively enhance railway development in this region. 🧩 As emphasised in the opening words, SEESARI is a special group started in 2016 composed of over 80 members today. The group offers a platform to connect, to coordinate and exchange best practice, with the aim of fostering a network dedicated to the development of the railways, strengthen cooperation and develop concrete projects in the region. The workshop consisted of panel discussions and individual presentations addressing: ➡️ Boosting Rail Development in South East Europe, where the most relevant projects in the region were highlighted, notably on common projects for #modernisation and construction of double-track lines with 200 km line speed. ➡️ High-speed lines and cross-border passenger mobility in South East Europe (SEE), where presentations addressed the challenges of connecting regions and cities, what the railways are doing to improve passenger journeys and the #customerexperience, as well as what #UICrail is doing to provide solutions for interoperable implementation, notably through tools to address sector needs such as #OSDM. ➡️ Digital automatic coupling (#DAC) status and priorities in SEE, opportunities and challenges in the region and how UIC is supporting the implementation of this technology which is a unique opportunity to revolutionise freight transport on rail. 🌟 The meeting put the SEE region in the spotlight, highlighting the need to connect the cross-border aspects for both freight and passenger, the need for #coordination, for #exchange and #bestpractice, to ensure that everyone is aligned. It is clear that learning from each other and learning from the industry – along with #cooperation and co-creation – are essential to make the sector future-proof.
