APHRC’s Data Science Program Lead Agnes Kiragga and Samuel Iddi recently visited the Gates Foundation to discuss the progress and strategic direction of the Implementation Network for Sharing Population Information from Research Entities (INSPIRE) Network. During the visit, they met Amel Ghouila, Tim Kinkead, Elisabeth Root, and Nosa Orobotan had discussions on how to strengthen the use of evidence generation and AI applications within Health and Demographic Surveillance Systems (HDSS). The discussions also focused on the critical role of Longitudinal Population Cohorts Health and Demographic Surveillance Sites (HDSS) in driving research that influences evidence-based policy. The collaboration aims to enhance global health initiatives by leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) and data science to generate impactful insights. Artificial Intelligence in Public Health: Readiness Assessment Toolkit New from Pan American Health Organization An extensive toolkit to help countries to assess and enhance their readiness for integration of AI in public health. Includes -Section 2 - Institutes self assessment across domains of governance, workforce, data, engagement, integration. Questions scored on a scale of 1-4, supported with qualitative analysis, this information would then be used against benchmarks/standards from international guidance to support a gaps analysis. To then inform action plans. -Section 3 - Critical thinking - spanning the future, sustainability, outcomes, impact, trust and more... -Section 4 - Q's to prompt multistakeholder engagement -Section 5 - key areas for successful implementation and much more...
