Happy Tuesday! Here is this week’s :60 Seconds for Safety message, brought to you by our parent company, MYR Group. Three-way communication is an important tool to ensure that information is accurately shared, and that it is accurately understood, eliminating the trap of making assumptions. A conversation that uses three-way communication works like this: • Person #1 provides the information or instruction • Person #2 repeats back the information or instruction • Person #1 confirms, corrects, or clarifies the information or instruction We do not work in isolation; we work as a team on sites where others are present, whether they are working directly with us or on their own tasks and projects. Keeping everyone on a site safe requires clear, effective communication, giving everyone the information they need to take the appropriate actions in response. Happy Wednesday! Here is this week’s :60 Seconds for Safety message, brought to you by our parent company, MYR Group. We often talk about taking your time and not acting quickly when you’re planning, assessing, or completing a task. However, there is a time to act quickly on a construction site- when as incident occurs. This doesn’t mean you should rush to take action. It’s important to act quickly to tend to an injury, and you need to be prepared to do so correctly. Otherwise, chaotic rushing can create more problems. Staying cool, calm, and collected while working diligently to address an issue is the recipe for a successful response to an incident. Happy Wednesday! Here is this week’s :60 Seconds for Safety message, brought to you by our parent company, MYR Group. Construction sites are dynamic work environments – as we work, and as others are working around us, we need to continually assess our situation and make adjustments as needed. When you’re assessing your work set-up, take your time. Look above, below, in front of, behind, and to the sides of your work area. Then, go beyond assessing just in relation to your body – look all around heavy equipment and other items in your work area to ensure there’s nothing potentially hazardous in the vicinity. Your situational awareness will not only keep you safe, but empower you to better perform your tasks as well.
