The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), through the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC), released the draft 2024-2030 Federal Health IT Strategic Plan. Public comments are welcome until May 28th. Key Points: - The plan outlines federal goals to improve access to health data, promote equitable healthcare delivery, and strengthen public health data infrastructure. - It emphasizes policies and technologies to support diverse health IT user needs. - The plan aligns with the recent Health Data, Technology, and Interoperability (HTI-1) rule to increase transparency and equity in electronic health information (EHI) access and use. - It complements the HHS Health Care Sector Cybersecurity concept paper and voluntary Cybersecurity Performance Goals (CPGs) to enhance cybersecurity in healthcare organizations.
