🍇 What are the stories behind family-owned Canadian wineries❓ https://lnkd.in/gq8FxgFQ 🌱 There are four major regions in Canada that produce wines made from grapes: BC, Ontario, Quebec and Nova Scotia. 🍷 Ontario makes about 63% of the wine, BC 33% and 2% for each of Quebec and NS, with more than 700 wineries from coast to coast and 1,800 grape growers. 💰 Every bottle of 100% Canadian wine contributes $90 to the national economy versus just $16 for an imported bottle. 🏞️ Pride of place literally grounds them all. Often the land on which their vineyards are planted is owned by the family, in some cases for several generations. 🌿 I should also add that they all acknowledge that they farm on the traditional territories of our Indigenous nations. 🌍 Being deeply connected to the soil that makes your wine, especially when your name is on the bottle, is a very different mindset from wines conceived in a focus group and made by blending grapes that may be hundreds or thousands of kilometres apart without that connection. 🌳 Family-owned wineries are often driven more by legacy than by the bottom line. 🏆 Of course, they need to be profitable to stay in business, but they also want to create something they can hand down to future generations. 📦 These wineries will ship these wines and others they produce across the country right to your doorstep, so there’s never been a better time or an easier way to support our homegrown farmers from coast to coast on July 1st and throughout the summer! 🍁 Do you have a favourite Canadian wine❓ Let me know in the comments 👇 Cheers🥂, Natalie 🍷 PS Get my free "Ultimate Guide to Wine & Food Pairing" at: https://lnkd.in/gwDc7jVb ✉️ Or just DM me and ask for the guide! CIATTI Company - July 2024 Global Market Report NOW available! 🌎🍷🍾🍇📈 The global bulk wine market was largely quiet over the past month, with only Chile and Spain reporting steady activity. An uptick in buyer enquiries has continued in California, potentially due to prices softening as the new crop nears, but only some of this activity has so far translated into deals. The challenging market has opened up attractive one-year and multi-year opportunities on a wide range of quality wines for bulk and mid-tier programmes, from standard red and white varietals through to items such as declassified highend French rosé, Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, even cachet Coastal California appellations. Bulk wine market activity has recently slowed in Australia following the initial purchasing rush triggered by China’s removal. Entry-level red wines including Shiraz, Cabernet, Merlot and Dry Red are still being requested but to a lesser extent. There has been an uptick in enquiries for small lots of mid-range and premium reds, with a number of domestic buyers seeking packaged container volumes of red wine, namely Barossa Valley Shiraz and Coonawarra Cabernet. In the meantime, read on for detailed updates on each market below ⬇️ Ciatti Argentina CIATTI EUROPE #winemarketing #wine #wineindustry #opportunities #australia #winebusiness

https://lnkd.in/gTaycuGG This issue of the crisis in BC's grape and wine industry and the ideas being floated to address it form the subject of my current and next wine column article in the Advocate magazine. Some very difficult decisions need to be made as to whether wineries that are currently using only BC grapes keep their wine Canadian or start importing grapes from the US. And what that will mean for the identity and branding of BC wine. Will it be lost?
The big push for a VQA Canada solution to grape calamities across the county
