Ethical Storytelling for Nonprofits I Grow community engagement & show mission impact

How do you show the impact of your events? Yesterday I worked with a customer on their fundraiser event. They wanted to collect video testimony from event attendees, but weren’t sure what questions to ask to solicit stories. Maybe you want to collect stories from your gathering, too. Here are 7 questions you could consider asking at your upcoming event to collect testimony. 1) What inspired you to attend this event? 2) What has been the best part of today’s event? (or) What one moment sticks out most? 3) How did you first learn about this event? 4) Describe this gathering in one word. 5) What did you learn from today’s event? 6) What’s the biggest impact this event will have? 7) Why should someone come to this gathering next year? Don’t overthink it. Questions don’t need to be overly complicated to elicit good stories. But they do need to be specific, clear, and help point the individual to specific memories or moments in time. Ask great questions to get great stories. #events #fundraisers #storytelling
