How do you show the impact of your events? Yesterday I worked with a customer on their fundraiser event. They wanted to collect video testimony from event attendees, but weren’t sure what questions to ask to solicit stories. Maybe you want to collect stories from your gathering, too. Here are 7 questions you could consider asking at your upcoming event to collect testimony. 1) What inspired you to attend this event? 2) What has been the best part of today’s event? (or) What one moment sticks out most? 3) How did you first learn about this event? 4) Describe this gathering in one word. 5) What did you learn from today’s event? 6) What’s the biggest impact this event will have? 7) Why should someone come to this gathering next year? Don’t overthink it. Questions don’t need to be overly complicated to elicit good stories. But they do need to be specific, clear, and help point the individual to specific memories or moments in time. Ask great questions to get great stories. #events #fundraisers #storytelling

I love the energy that events bring—the connections and organized chaos really fills my cup, keeping me energized long after the event wraps up. But after all the excitement, I often find myself teetering on the edge of burnout. And like many in this field, I’ve been guilty of jumping straight into the next project without properly closing out the last one. It took me some time to realize how much I was missing by not fully wrapping up an event. The connections we work so hard to build don’t end when the event does; in fact, for many attendees, the event is just the beginning of their engagement with your organization. But without a proper follow-up plan, those connections can fizzle out before they even start. Here’s my biggest tip: post event, take the time to meaningfully engage with everyone involved in your event—without making another ask. Use this time to share your stories, celebrate your victories, and let your supporters know how much their involvement means. It's about keeping the momentum going, and yes, strutting your nonprofit peacock feathers proudly! #EventPlanning #CommunityEngagement #NonprofitLeadership #FundraisingTips #PostEventFollowUp

How is the 4:30 Meetup different from a typical networking event? 🤔 In most networking spaces, everyone has an independent agenda. The purpose of gathering is to boost each person's individual business success and give them opportunities to do the same for others. 🤝 But at the 4:30 Meetup, we gather for one purpose: to support a cause!! That SHARED purpose gives everyone in the room permission to forget the business cards and sales pitches. Instead, you'll find yourself bonding with others based on your stories. You'll be reminded of our common humanity and responsibility to take care of each other during the nonprofit presentation. And you'll leave knowing that you've been a part of something bigger than yourself. ❤️ If that sounds like a fun Tuesday night, support @rootsandwings_legacy by grabbing a ticket to the 4:30 Meetup. Each one includes a 50% donation to the cause - and you'll get to hear its story firsthand. TICKETS: https://buff.ly/3TmtYii #RelationshipsOverEverything #NoJerks

FUNdraisers should be FUN. Corporate events don’t have to feel like a chore. Nobody wants to sit through a boring evening where the only excitement is watching the fundraising thermometer creep up. People want to experience something memorable. At the African Community Education Gala, we raised over $9M. But we didn’t do it with stale speeches or awkward silences. We brought the energy, the connection, and yes... the dance moves. As the emcee, my role is to make sure guests are entertained, engaged, and excited. Because when people have fun, they give more. And more importantly—they leave wanting to invite their friends and family next year. Let’s redefine what corporate events and fundraisers can look like. They don’t have to be stiff—they can be transformational. What’s your favorite moment from a corporate event? Let me know 👇 #eventemcee #TheEngineerMC #FUNdraiser #eventhost #eventmc
