The future of our economies lies in the hands of the youth. Their innovation, creativity, and energy are crucial in driving growth and prosperity in our societies. That's why it is so encouraging to see the emphasis on youth participation in all economic spheres in the national development strategy 1. By including young people in decision-making processes, we not only tap into their fresh perspectives and ideas but also ensure that policies and strategies are inclusive and reflective of the needs and aspirations of all segments of society. Empowering youth to be active participants in the economy not only benefits them individually but also contributes to the overall development and success of our nations. As leaders and stakeholders, it is our responsibility to create opportunities for young people to thrive in the workforce, entrepreneurship, and other economic activities. Through mentorship, training, and access to resources, we can help them unlock their full potential and make a meaningful impact on the economy. Let's continue to support and prioritize youth involvement in all economic spheres. Together, we can build a more sustainable and prosperous future for all. #YouthEmpowerment #EconomicDevelopment #NationalDevelopmentStrategy1 #Youth4integrity Zimbabwe Coalition on Debt and Development ZIMCODD Youth Empowerment and Transformation Trust (YETT)

🌟 A historic moment for African education! 34 nations, led by 22 Ministers of Education, and over 500 education experts from the African continent have united behind an unprecedented commitment to end learning poverty by 2035. Happy International Youth Day! This year's theme, "From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development," perfectly captures the impact young people are making through technology. At Sawa World, we're witnessing how digital tools are impacting our work toward our vision of creating a world without poverty, where youth lead their way out. Our partnerships with young entrepreneurs are fueling innovation and creating opportunities for youth in vulnerable communities. Through our online training workshops and our YouTube channel (https://lnkd.in/dYPt_Jdr), these entrepreneurs have provided youth with knowledge of easy-to-start local income skills that can lift them out of poverty. The Ujana Coffee Project is another example of one of our initiatives where we have leveraged the power of digital solutions to provide wide-scale access to easy-to-start local income skills. By creating a dedicated webpage (https://lnkd.in/eKvbXYcG) during the COVID-19 pandemic, we have enabled young coffee farmers in Uganda to access free learning content such as videos and posters to guide them in starting microbusinesses that can help them diversify their incomes. We are excited about what the future of digital technology holds in creating a brighter future for all. #SawaWorld #InternationalYouthDay #YouthEmpowerment #EndPoverty

10 days to go! As we draw ever closer to the exciting 3rd edition of the National Youth Conversations. We would like to share what we aim to accomplish with our theme: “Bridging the Digital Divide: Are Malawian Youth ready to lead in the Digital Revolution towards MW 2063?” Our theme for the 3rd edition of the “Youth Conversations” aims to challenge young people, government authorities, private sector and other stakeholders to assess the state of youth readiness and leadership in digital innovation in Malawi This is by identifying best practices, as well as opportunities, gaps, and challenges, and to agree on how best to accelerate Malawi's digital transformation through young people. This is also in line with the National Youth Policy, which has one of its priority areas focused on ensuring that young people, as critical agents, access and exploit the benefits of Science, Technology and Innovations in order spearhead the national socio-economic development. #NationalYouthConversations #YouthvoicesMw #Nycomrevamp Rex Chapota Williot Joaquim Lumbe Daud Suleman Mzuzu University Mzuzu E-Hub Malawi University of Science and Technology AGRA

The Power of Action and Persistence: A Path to Success in Uganda In the bustling landscape of Uganda, a nation rich in potential yet faced with myriad challenges, the adage "action and persistence breed success" holds profound significance. While qualifications undoubtedly contribute to one's capabilities, it is often the relentless pursuit of goals and consistent effort that propels individuals towards success. This essay will delve into the lives of Ugandans who, despite being less qualified on paper, achieved remarkable feats through their proactive approach and unwavering persistence. One striking example is the story of Sarah Nalubega, a young entrepreneur in Kampala. Lacking formal business education, Sarah ventured into the challenging world of technology without a degree. Instead, she learned through hands-on experience and took every opportunity to refine her skills. Through persistent efforts and a keen ability to adapt, Sarah now manages a successful tech startup, showcasing how action and determination can trump conventional qualifications. In the education sector, Moses Ochieng stands out as an inspiring figure. Born into a modest family in rural Uganda, Moses faced limited access to formal education. Undeterred, he embraced self-directed learning, utilizing community resources and online platforms. Moses established a grassroots educational initiative, providing underprivileged children with access to learning opportunities. His story underscores the transformative impact of taking action and persisting in the face of adversity. Moreover, the political arena in Uganda has witnessed instances where grassroots activists, despite lacking traditional political qualifications, have ignited significant change. Activists like Amina Namara, driven by a passion for social justice, tirelessly engaged with communities, advocating for their rights. Amina's activism, grounded in action and tenacity, resonates far beyond her formal qualifications, illustrating the potential for impactful change through persistent efforts. In conclusion, the Ugandan landscape offers a tapestry of stories where action and persistence have triumphed over conventional qualifications. Sarah Nalubega, Moses Ochieng, and Amina Namara exemplify individuals who defied societal expectations, demonstrating that the journey to success is not solely paved by qualifications but also by proactive steps and unwavering perseverance. As Uganda continues to evolve, these stories serve as beacons of inspiration for those navigating the intricate interplay between qualifications and the transformative power of action.

Prior to the United Nations Summit of the Future which took place in September 2024, the Inter-Agency Youth Group of the United Nations in Nigeria (at the UN House in Nigeria), the Federal Ministry of Youth Development, the coalition of youth CSOs and networks, hosted the Nigeria Youth Consultative Forum on the Summit of the Future on the 20th of June, 2024. The Summit of the Future goal is to enhance cooperation on critical challenges and address gaps in global governance with the recent statistics from UNICEF Data 2024, showing that the world currently has about 1.3 Billion adolescents. In Nigeria, about 70% of the entire population are young people. I.e. about 160,000,000 (160 Million) young people out of about 230 Million Nigerians. All these young blood are within the employable age and could actively be agents of positive change if well-harnessed and armed with the necessary skill sets. Hence, decisions about the nation and its future must not be made without their inputs or representations since the outcome whether good or bad would surely affect them. It further, reaffirms existing commitments including the SDGs and the United Nations Charter, and moves towards a reinvigorated multilateral system that is better positioned to positively impact people’s lives. The event aimed to capture the views of young Nigerians on their expectations for the present and future and inspire collective actions of young people for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Nigeria. The outcomes from the forum are targeted to serve as Nigeria’s contributions towards the UN Summit of the Future and the importance of harnessing concrete and sustainable solutions to the challenges facing young Nigerians. #NigeriaFMYS #UN_Nigeria @Nigeria #UN4Youth #UNYouthAffairs #AU_AYAPs #YouthSDGs #UNFPANigeria #UNICEFNigeria #Summit of the Future Nigeria #BeyonddevelopmentforAfrica’sYouthAdvancementInitiative
