🌌 Excited to Share Our Latest Project: Space Bodies 🚀 Over the past few weeks, I’ve been collaborating on a project that explores the fascinating world of asteroid tracking and visualization. Introducing the Space Bodies Project – an open-source initiative where we simulate asteroid orbits using real data from NASA’s API and visualize their trajectories in a 2D environment. This project allows users to observe the motion of asteroids, calculate their trajectories, and even fast-forward or rewind time to see how these space objects move. It’s been an incredible journey, merging technology with astronomy to bring outer space a little closer to Earth! 🔑 Key Highlights: • 2D visualization of asteroid orbits with real-time data. • Interactive features like fast-forward/rewind to watch orbital paths. • Using C++ and SFML for graphics and NASA’s API for real asteroid data. Check out the code and follow our journey on GitHub: https://lnkd.in/dEdbsgUW I’m really proud of the work we’ve done so far and look forward to seeing how this project evolves. Feel free to explore and contribute! #opensource #space #Cplusplus #NASA #visualization #astronomy #technology #programming

While a shame, it shouldn't be a surprise. OSAM involved both satellite refueling, and in-orbit assembly. Both technologies are in moderate stages of development, and adding assembly to the mission doubled costs. In addition, the refueling mission was to serve an "unprepared" satellite, which has never been done before. Expectations: - scale back, focus on each technology separately - Considering govmil demand and commercial development from players like Northrop Grumman and Astroscale for refueling, NASA will likely focus on assembly and let the commercial market prove refueling technology NSR, an Analysys Mason company forecasts a $18 billion cumulative in-orbit service market, with 1/3rd of that coming from refueling. Download Landslide data for the whole world - Inventory map from NASA https://lnkd.in/dguvS3b5 A landslide is a type of natural disaster where a mass of rock, earth, or debris moves down a slope due to gravity. A landslide inventory is a detailed register of the spatial distribution, geometry, and attributes of landslides and is essential for landslide hazard analysis, risk management, regional planning, and land use management and development, especially in landslide-prone regions. NASA is building the biggest open global landslide inventory with the help of citizen scientists. ___________ in this #tutorial, we #download the #Landslide #data from the #NASA website and display it in the #ArcGIS (#ArcMap) #software, we hope this is informative for you. ________________________ #GIS #QGIS #RemoteSensing #Image #Map #Mapping

🚀 How One Small Data Mistake Lost NASA $125 Million—and Why It’s Still Relevant Today 🚀 Back in 1999, NASA’s Mars Climate Orbiter was set for a groundbreaking mission. But a single, seemingly small error caused the entire mission to vanish—$125 million down the drain in seconds. The reason? A unit mismatch: NASA was using metric (newtons), while their contractor was using imperial (pounds). The orbiter was off course before anyone even realized. Fast forward to today, where data complexity has multiplied. From supply chain algorithms to patient safety records, a minor data inconsistency can still have MAJOR consequences. And with higher stakes, the need for reliable data has never been greater. At Aphelion Group, we tackle these risks head-on with a commitment to high-quality, consistent data. Because a single mistake shouldn't stand in the way of achieving extraordinary things. Let’s talk data that works for you, not against you. #DataQuality #DataGovernance #Analytics #RiskManagement #FutureReady
