Interoperability is tough. The industry is making progress, but we're not yet where we need to be. Certified Electronic Health Record Technology ("CEHRT") ensures data is structured in a standard format, which makes it easier to share bidirectionally across platforms. This is foundational to success. The last thing we want to do is put clinicians in the middle of a tug of war between two technology vendors when the interoperability fails. More accountability for making sure this works as expected, and having a CEHRTified EHR (like Elation) will both be crucial to success in this area. Listen to this great discuss between Sara Pastoor, MD, MHA, FAAFP and Andrew Talbot - they unpack this topic in terms that a non-technologist can easily understand, and shine a spotlight on the failure modes that are holding us back. Is your EHR "CEHRTified"?
