🏔 The Central Mountains project, which is financed under the Interreg CENTRAL EUROPE Programme and aims at improving cooperation in mountain regions, is currently in the middle phase of its development. Right now, various project partners are developing pilot actions related to cooperation for sustainable development in the cross-border areas of the Alps and Carpathians, with the aim of changing the stakeholders’ mindset towards more cooperation and coordination of actions. 🤝 ISIG is coordinating WP2 - Joint actions across borders for better cooperation and testing governance structures and processes, supporting all involved partners, with the contribution of CIPRA and Eurac Research, who are mentoring the pilot actions. 📄 The deliverable "Joint approach and methodology for pilot planning, implementation and evaluation", created by ISIG with the support of all the partners involved, provides common guidelines for all actions, related to the active engagement of stakeholders in their context of action, methods of cooperation and exchange between Central Mountains partners, and the monitoring and evaluation of the actions carried out. 🔗 This last aspect is particularly important because it will allow the bridging of WP2 activities with WP3, where the solutions tested in WP2 will be analysed and capitalised at various levels, from citizens and local communities to policy-makers. 🔎 During the next weeks, we will present all the pilot actions under implementation, from the Alps to the Carpathians. Stay tuned!

The journey towards improving evidence-based decision-making must start with local ownership, local customs, and local voices. GEI’s systems-based approach to strengthening national monitoring and evaluation systems always begins with understanding the local context and integrating cultural practices that work best for each country and community we work with. Our latest Story of Change demonstrates how leveraging local best practices led to greater and more meaningful community involvement in GEI’s Monitoring and Evaluation Systems Analysis (MESA) diagnostic in the Solomon Islands. If you are in Vienna next week for the Legal Sub Committee of the Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (COPUOS) - or indeed, just in Vienna - consider attending this ESPI side event, where we will be trying to find ways to make everyone happy! No, no puppies or pets to stroke, but it will involve physical contact and smiling, the secret ingredient to any good 'deal' coming from World Radiocommunication Conferences (WRC). WRCs make changes to the Radio Regulations, which govern use of radio frequencies around the globe. (Usable) radio frequencies are in limited supply, so it's important, especially for Space applications, that this critical resource is used wisely and coordinated - the main aim of the radio regulations (a UN level treaty text). Register here: https://lnkd.in/eAD7beG6 #UNOOSA #ESPI #WRC
In one week, on 16 April, we will host a side event to the 63rd Session of the UN COPUOS Legal Subcommittee under the theme: 𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗪𝗥𝗖-𝟮𝟯 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗡𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝗖𝘆𝗰𝗹𝗲: 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗠𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗛𝗮𝗽𝗽𝘆? 💡Did you know that 14 EU Member States, mostly concentrated in Central and Southern Europe, have dedicated cluster policies? The European Cluster Panorama Report describes how: 🔖Dedicated cluster policies provide more focused support for cluster development and maturity. 🔖Countries without dedicated cluster policies support initiatives through broader economic development policies. These countries are concentrated in the Nordic, Baltic, and South-Eastern regions of Europe. 🔖Cluster policies can be implemented at various levels of governance. For instance, 🇵🇱 Poland deploys cluster policies at the national and regional levels, differentiating support for clusters depending on their maturity.
