Fueling Hope: Food Services Support for Our Community Here at the Windsor Park LifeCare Trust, we partner with Windsor Park Baptist Church to co-ordinate and deliver our Food Support Services initiative, providing essential assistance to those facing food insecurity in our community. From freezer meals to fresh produce distributions, we're committed to ensuring that no one goes hungry. However, as the need for food assistance grows, so does our determination to expand our efforts and we could really use your help! Here are a few ways that you or your organization can help: Donate pantry items to our office during the week (or into the trolleys positioned in the auditorium on a Sunday). Volunteer to help cook and package meals for our Freezer Bank or offer fresh-cooked dishes. Volunteer to pack parcels or assist with the regular Wednesday KiwiHarvest delivery. As the demand for our services increases weekly, your support could help us reach even more families in need. Together, we can make a real difference in our community. Georgia Main Food Group Limited is leading the charge in reducing food waste—and they’re doing it through action, not just donations. In partnership with the Immigrant Link (ILCS), Georgia Main staff recently spent a day volunteering to pack and distribute nutritious food hampers for families in need. This experience brought them face-to-face with the people and communities they’ve been supporting through their food recovery program. Since partnering with FoodMesh in 2020, Georgia Main has diverted 2.4 million kg of unsold food—equivalent to more than 4 million meals—to charitable organizations. Read all about it in our latest post on the Quirky Pear blog: https://lnkd.in/gg7QKks6 This is the kind of leadership we need to fight hunger and reduce environmental impact. By not only donating unsold food but also stepping onto the frontlines, Georgia Main is helping to build a stronger, more sustainable future for everyone. A huge thank you to ILCS for their tireless work, and to the Georgia Main team for going above and beyond! 💡 Is your business ready to take action against food waste and make a difference in your community? **Hunger doesn't care about your zip code.** With the rising cost of living and inflation affecting everyone, food insecurity has become a critical issue, particularly for the 1.9 million adults and children in Massachusetts who represent 1 in 3 households. The increasing prices of essential goods have made it significantly harder for families to afford nutritious food, pushing many to seek help from food agencies and community resources. As one of the four food banks in Massachusetts, Merrimack Valley Food Bank, Inc. partners with over 100 food agencies across 33 communities. Together, we are working tirelessly to provide emergency food assistance to those in need. However, the demand for healthy food continues to stretch our resources. To ensure that everyone has access to the nutritious food they need to thrive, we need your help. 💪 Here’s what you can do: *Donate to Merrimack Valley Food Bank and help feed 80,000 each month *Host a food drive with family, friends, or your company. *Volunteer your time. *Raise Awareness about the growing need and encourage others to get involved. No amount is too small to address this urgent issue and make a tangible difference in our communities. Food insecurity affects every community in the U.S. Feeding America’s Map the Meal Gap study is a powerful tool to understand local impact and take action. We can leverage this data to address factors impacting food insecurity and unite to ensure everyone has access to the food and resources we all need to thrive. Many of us have experienced hunger or know someone who has. When we listen to people facing hunger and use the study's findings, America can choose to end hunger. Whether it’s advocating for a strong farm bill or investing in our communities, it’s up to all of us to unite in our efforts to create a future where everyone has access to the nutritious food and resources we need to thrive. Even when we disagree, we can all agree on ending hunger. Hunger is a challenge we can overcome together. Join us on our #nutritionmission here at Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County by volunteering or donating so we can continue to provide nutritious food to our community. We are currently serving over 436,000 people per month on average, including 138,000 children and 86,000 seniors #wefeedOC #wefarmOC

With 5.7m low-income households still cutting or skipping meals due to lack of money, we must move away from providing emergency relief that serves only as a temporary fix. Instead, we must prioritise holistic, sustainable aid models that offer person-centred support which empowers people to achieve long-term change. To achieve this we are calling for: * Food security policy that focusses on outcomes, not processes, and should not favour charities or grassroots bodies over businesses and social enterprises. * Government to acknowledge that emergency food parcels and other short term fixes cannot be a solution to food insecurity. Today, my kids took part in a Harvest Festival at their school, bringing a bag of food to support our local food bank. This tradition just reminds us the reality that many families in our community rely on these donations to make it through the week. It’s heartbreaking to know how many people, including kids, are struggling to get food on their plate, yet 1/3 of all food doesn’t make it to the plate and is wasted. Efforts by organisations like FareShare UK and local food banks are crucial, but we need broader changes to reduce waste and improve food access. 1 in 11 people globally goes to bed hungry every night 2.8billion people can't afford a healthy, nutritious diet - that’s 35% of the global population In June 2024: 14% of UK households were living in food insecurity, including 3M kids 2.5M adults reported not eating for a whole day because they couldn’t afford or get access to food #fighthunger #reducefoodwaste #supportlocalcommunities #gratefulforfood

Stephen and Ayesha Curry’s Eat. Learn. Play. Foundation is matching the first $250,000 donated online to ACCFB by community members like you, so double your impact with a matched gift today: https://bit.ly/3ZJCVFS How much we raise before the end of the year determines just how much we can do in 2025. In addition to providing an estimated 60 million pounds of food in 2025, here's a few of the other things we plan to do: 🥕 Expand our food recovery efforts to ensure high-quality surplus food from local farmers and grocery stores lands on the tables of people in our community instead of in landfills 🍊 Improve community health through our innovative Food as Medicine program supporting patients with chronic conditions that benefit from fresh, organic produce and meals tailored to individual needs 🌱 Invest in local food systems by partnering with BIPOC farmers, food distributors, local businesses and more to support the local economy, reduce our environmental impact, and provide more fresh food to our community 📣 Advocate for food justice by engaging further in community organizing to fight for policies addressing the root causes of hunger

Food Bank Day is an important observance dedicated to raising awareness about #FoodInsecurity and the role of food banks in supporting vulnerable communities. Celebrated on the 1st Friday of September, this day encourages individuals and organisations to contribute to their local food banks through donations, #Volunteering, and advocacy. #Foodbanks play a crucial role in providing essential food supplies to those in need, often acting as a lifeline for families and individuals facing economic hardship. The significance of Food Bank Day lies in its ability to highlight the ongoing issue of #Hunger and poverty in many communities. It serves as a reminder of the importance of solidarity and support for those less fortunate. Food banks not only provide immediate relief by supplying nutritious food but also offer various programmes to help individuals achieve self-sufficiency, such as job training and financial education. To commemorate Food Bank Day, people are encouraged to participate in various activities, including organising food drives, volunteering at local food banks, or making financial contributions. These actions can make a significant difference in the lives of those struggling with food insecurity, ensuring they have access to essential nutrition and support. See more about the day here: https://lnkd.in/envP3rHz You can find many Food bank Charities and Organisations on aDoddle's Community Mapping site: https://lnkd.in/eM--HuJy #FoodBankDay #EndHunger #SupportFoodBanks #FightHunger #FoodInsecurity #CommunitySupport #Volunteer #DonateFood #HelpThoseInNeed #FoodBankAwareness
