🚨ATTENTION Cardiologists, Emergency MDs, Family Doctors, and IMGs. Do you know how to describe these common medical conditions that relate to heart health to your patients in an understandable way? It’s okay if you use the medical terminology with your patients, but always know the common term for the disease or be able to describe it in a way that the patient can understand if needed. You’re the one who went to medical school, and some diseases and conditions are only known by their medical terms by doctors; patients may know them in a different way. Using the medical terms with a patient may cause unnecessary stress for your patients or cause them to view you as insensitive or not empathetic, especially if the common term is used more often among patients. Share this video with a colleague who may benefit from it. 💡 I currently have openings to take on four new one-on-one clients this month to help them improve their English communication skills and confidence when speaking in English. DM me if you’d like to learn more about how I can help you. _________________________________ Hi, I’m Amanda. 👋 I help international doctors and surgeons develop more confidence and clarity when speaking with their patients and colleagues in English, which enhances relationships that can lead to bigger career opportunities. 📨 DM me to book a free chat if you’d like to learn more. #medicalprofessionals #doctors #imgs #cardiologists

Such great work to get med students to see what General Practice does, rather than leaving it to their impressions of the media. History has shown that when Med students spend time in general practice, they are more interested in specializing in general practice and understand the joy that comes from looking after people's whole health. #generalpractice, #preventativecare
This is an excellent article written by Sasenie Jayanetty, a final-year medicine student at the University of Tasmania. The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) SA Faculty is working closely with both SA medical schools and other stakeholders to try to 'raise the prestige of general practice' and encourage more medical students to choose a career as a specialist GP. This year, as a fantastic new initiative, all third-year medical students at the University of Adelaide are spending a day per week in a general practice, seeing firsthand the enormous scope and skill of GPs, and the role they play as the cornerstone of our health system. As Sasenie says, 'Medicine is fundamentally a team sport; cooperation and harmony at a multi-disciplinary level is a must. These inter-speciality relationships must be nurturing and symbiotic, not breeding grounds for resentment and competition.'
