Welcome to our weekly article, where we share practical tips and strategies for supporting our daughters with ADHD. Whether it’s during exam time 📝 or daily studies 🗒 , these insights are designed to make learning smoother and more manageable for both parents and children. Today, we’re focusing on how a touch of nature 🍂 in your daughter’s study space can help her stay grounded, calm, and attentive. Studies show that natural elements, like green colours 🌿 , calming scents 🕯 , and indoor plants 🏵 , can significantly enhance focus, especially for children with ADHD. Here’s how you can easily incorporate these supportive elements: ☝🏻 Use green and blue hues: Soft green and blue tones are associated with calm and relaxation, helping to reduce mental fatigue. Consider adding a few accessories in these colours, or even painting an accent wall to create a restful atmosphere. ✌🏻 Introduce plants: Indoor plants, such as spider plants, peace lilies, or small succulents, improve air quality and create a soothing, welcoming environment. Involving her in choosing and caring for these plants can help her feel connected to her study space. 👉🏻 Soothing scents: Calming scents like lavender, chamomile, or light citrus can help her stay relaxed. Consider a subtle essential oil diffuser, but use it only when she finds it helpful, as strong scents can sometimes be distracting. These natural touches, along with your supportive guidance, create a study space where she can feel confident and focused. As you continue to tailor the environment and routines around her needs, remember that these small adjustments can make a big difference during high-pressure times like exams. In this article for Forbes, I cover large new study from the NIH. Researchers found unusual, increased neural connections in the brains of children with ADHD. The specific areas involved shed new light on the ADHD superpower of hyperfocus. This is one more in a mounting body of evidence that shows ADHD is indeed a neurodevelopmental condition and NOT a result of "bad parenting." https://lnkd.in/e_aMPj7S #parenting #adhd #adhdparenting #hyperfocus

A recent study indicates that children with high IQs often receive ADHD diagnoses later than their peers. This delay may stem from their ability to compensate for attention deficits, leading to underdiagnosis and a lack of timely support. The findings highlight the need for awareness among educators and healthcare providers to ensure early identification and intervention for all children, regardless of cognitive abilities.
