The Club de vela la Ballena Alegre Honored at the CETT Alimara Awards 2024. The innovative model of the Alt Empordà club has been awarded the Alimara Award for Sustainability and the Alimara Award from CETT students, highlighting its inspirational power for new generations. Demonstrating that sport can act as a vector of transversality, integrating and impacting various areas such as sustainability, education, social inclusion, economic development, and tourism.The "Sustainable Experience" project proposes a new model for organizing sporting events, becoming them as tools for environmental awareness. Aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda, the project has been recognized internationally, finalist for the "World Sailing 11th Hour Racing Sustainability Award." The award granted to the Sailing Club La Ballena Alegre in the "Through Sustainability" category and the “Students' Award” underline its commitment to sustainability and inspiration for new generations. The highlight of the project was organizing the "2023 Optimist World Championship" in the Bay of Roses, which featured participants from 54 countries. Based on three fundamental pillars: The Mediterranean Sea: Promoting the protection of the marine environment and the regeneration of local flora and fauna; The Sailors: Raising awareness of social responsibility and promoting sustainable practices in the nautical field; Nautical Activities: Driving sustainability in all sailing-related activities. The project includes a wide range of activities and collaborations with local and international entities such as Barcelona Capital Nàutica, ASOCIACION NACIONAL DE EMPRESAS NAUTICAS , #GALPCostaBrava, #ProjecteSepia , #PopdeGRam, #empordamar, #MACEmpúries, #MuseudelaPesca , #MuseudelAnxova , Fundación Cruyff,Play eSailing Indigo Life Inc. , Fruites Font . It has also been featured in international forums such as the Salón Náutico Int. Barcelona , #blueinnovationdock boot Düsseldorf , FITUR #fitursports The Club is entering a new phase of the project aimed at deepening environmental awareness through knowledge and conscious navigation practice. The world’s most effective tourism commercial is about to start for another year Not sure what it is? I’ll give you a clue... it’s rather close to my heart. Yes, the Tour de France. I distinctly remember growing up, sitting in my living room in Melbourne, on many cold July evenings, watching colourful cyclists riding through fields of sunflowers and thinking “I want to be there”. And then I did. Many times. The Tour was originally started by a car magazine in 1903 to promote itself with some new original content. Then when they worked out that the harder the routes were, the more papers they sold! Now, watched by 15 million spectators live and an estimated 1 billion people on television over the 3 weeks, it has become the worlds most watched sporting event every year, with the exception world cup years. The advantage of the Tour, is that everyone can relate to it in their own way. If you can ride a bike, you can understand it, however at the same time there is a huge amount of complexity that goes into tactics, technology and physical performance. Cycling is a big business in France, with one study highlighting an estimated 80,000 jobs linked to the cycling industry leading to direct economic benefits of 8.2 Billion Euros per year. Ditch the sun lounger for something a bit more adventurous. Do you get itchy feet just sitting by the pool, or chilling on the beach? I know I do. For me it’s great to have a couple of days to unwind but then I start getting restless. If this sounds familiar, here are 2 ideas. One will give you a holiday full of adventure and the other is the perfect mix of activity and chill: Slovenia Though popular as a ski destination, shouldn’t be overlooked for a summer holiday. It offers stunning scenery, including Lake Bled, the Julian Alps and even a small stretch of coastline. The capital, Ljubljana is a quaint city with cobblestone streets, colourful buildings and riverside cafes to sit and watch the world go by. It is also not short of outdoor activities to choose from, with hiking, cycling, kayaking and rafting being among the most popular. Turkey You will probably notice that Turkey is advertised a lot on the TV right now and is increasingly popular with British tourists. Partly due to the beautiful coastline and partly because of the attractive exchange rate with the Turkish Lira. I’d recommend The Masmavi Resort in Belek, which is an excellent 5-star resort with a blue flag beach and pools of all different sizes. And, when you get bored of the sunbed, there’s table tennis, beach volleyball, archery, aerobic classes, tennis and lots more. I can promise that you won’t get bored.
