It is 1,5 week ago. I shake hands with Tonka Petričević and Petar Roje of the University of Split, Science and Innovation Department. And... We engaged in an very interesting conversation about science, research, sustainability and the role of AI in that. Thanks for the warm welcome, the time to share thoughts, the bag with presents 🎁 and the above all the invitation to explore further collaboration with SKY DUST 🤝. Thanks also to Eli Marušić for arranging the appointment, leading me there and participating. Do you have an idea for a study about connecting AI and sustainability? Please leave a comment 📝 #ai #research #sustainability

It was a pleasure to host two esteemed researchers in our offices in Barcelona today: Jason Pridmore and Tessa Oomen, social scientists from Erasmus University in Rotterdam, with whom we collaborate on SPATIAL Project. With them, we had a very interesting conversation on the intricate domain of algorithmic assessments and AI evaluations, focusing on the practical applicability of them 🤝. In our conversation, we highlighted relevant challenges such as: (i) the scalability of the assessment processes, (ii) the applicability on innovation and research oriented projects or (iii) the standardization and objectification of the assessment's outcomes. This stimulating exchange not only broadened our perspectives but also underscored the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in driving innovation 💡. Now it's time to move forward and convert ideas into tangible and applied outcomes! #ResearchCollaboration #AlgorithmicAssessment

Continuing to lead in all STEM areas
Georgia Institute of Technology has more graduates working in Artificial Intelligence than any other school in the country, according to JLL's new Technology Top 5 report. Georgia Tech has produced 3.2% of all current AI talent. We beat the University of California at Berkeley, Carnegie Mellon University, Stanford University, and the University of Southern California. Another example of amazing Yellow Jacket innovation! #AI #Gtalumni #innovators

A very important report. From AU in teaching to AI in research to AI generated models and generative AI. The world is changing and science needs to lead
In this report from the The Royal Society, the emerging influence and role of #AI in #science is discussed, including potential benefits, challenges, risks, and requirements. It is clear that AI is already transforming research in many disciplines, including biology, healthcare, climate and materials science, offering substantial opportunities across domains. However, realising these benefits requires the scientific community, and society at large, to address challenges related to transparency and reproducibility, interdisciplinary collaboration, and ethics. Establishing research integrity and responsible use of AI will be essential if scientists are to harness the benefits of automation and accelerate scientific breakthroughs. Other foundational requirements relate to access to assets and capabilities, for example: high quality FAIR data sets (including 'negative' results), computing infrastructure, AI tools, and expertise. Link to the full report: https://lnkd.in/gMwNXruD Other national and international groups have published on AI in science, research and innovation, including the European Commission, and it is a current topic of investigation for my colleagues and me on the Schweizerischer Wissenschaftsrat - Conseil Suisse de la Science - Swiss Science Council SSC. #AI #artificialintelligence #science #research #ethics #FAIRdata #reproducibility #innovation

💡with more and more research in AI 🤖 we have to realize that as a scientific community we can’t afford anymore not to publish our data and code. This is the fuel that will allow us to make real scientific advances 🚀and to ensure transparency and inclusivity! While I see some journals 📝 are adapting to this trend (requiring code and data along with manuscript submissions), other prominent ones are being a bit slow. Also, many funding agencies are slow at changing how they measure impact. Data and code repositories are as impactful as papers! Would be nice to see a greater push by publishers and funding agencies to support #openScience #openData #openCode
