Publication of the Day 📚 "Efficient and Sustainable Electrosynthesis of N-Sulfonyl Iminophosphoranes by the Dehydrogenative P–N Coupling Reaction" from JACS AU. Why are Iminophosphoranes Important ? 🔍 They play an important role in organic chemistry due to their versatility as intermediates in the synthesis of various nitrogen-containing compounds. They are notably used as nitrene donor. The Reaction and Mechanism ⚙️ - Electrooxidation : The phosphine is oxidized at the anode. - Coupling : The oxidized phosphine reacts with the sulfonyl azide to form the iminophosphorane. - Dehydrogenation : Hydrogen gas is released as a byproduct, making the process clean and sustainable. Advantages of This Method ⚗ - Sustainability : Uses electricity instead of traditional chemical oxidants, reducing waste. - Efficiency : High yields and selectivity for the desired products. - Scalability : Suitable for large-scale synthesis, which is vital for industrial applications. I am thrilled to announce the publication of my first research paper titled "Chemoenzymatic synthesis of amino-esters as precursors of ammonium salt-based surfactants from 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF)" in the esteemed journal Green Chemistry. This research, conducted at the Instituto de Tecnología Química (UPV-CSIC), represents a significant step forward in the field of sustainable chemistry. By leveraging chemoenzymatic methods, we have successfully synthesized amino-esters, laying the groundwork for the development of environmentally friendly surfactants derived from 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF). I am immensely grateful for the collaboration and support of my colleagues whose expertise and dedication were instrumental in the success of this project.
