Very proud to be part of a French/Belgian JV bringing vast experience of offshore wind investment to Scotland. The floating wind specific port infrastructure and high levels of local content being delivered by Thistle Wind Partners's major shareholders Qair Group and DEME Group are exceptional. This is learning we hope to apply in Scotland. The Scottish Government roundtable in Paris organised with Scottish Development International is exactly the kind of initiative required to assist in knowledge transfer and informing future approaches to investment in infrastructure & supply chain in Scotland's offshore wind industry.

A model worth considering for Atlantic Canadian ports which are currently serving or planning to serve/host the offshore wind sector.

California's ambitious goal of deploying 25 GW by 2045 makes it the center of the #US West Coast floating offshore wind opportunity. With very deep water just a short distance offshore, developing a floating offshore wind supply chain that is localized within #California is an essential next step. The priority of developing a local supply chain is further underscored by currently existing gaps in ports, infrastructure, vessels, and skilled labor. Establishing and expanding the full value chain from the ground up is both a challenge and a unique opportunity for the industry. In a recent Windpower Monthly article, our colleague Sorcha Versteeg, Country Director, UK and Ireland, shared her perspective on Sweden’s “open-door” approach to offshore wind leasing and the recent cancellation of 13 offshore wind projects due to security concerns. ⚠️ Sorcha highlighted how this developer-led strategy, which contrasts with the government-managed bidding rounds seen in other Baltic countries, did not effectively integrate critical considerations such as military, biodiversity, and local industry requirements. "The developer-led approach of choosing wind farm locations has just failed to effectively engage with the military, biodiversity, and local industry requirements...
