🌿 We’re excited to announce that Ocean Rainforest is now a proud partner in the new TexMaTer project, supported by #HorizonEurope funding! 🚀 Our role will focus on providing cultivated seaweed, including Saccharina latissima (#sugarkelp) and potentially Macrocystis pyrifera (#giantkelp) to explore how sidestreams from e.g. alginate production can be utilized to harness residual cellulose for textile manufacturing. This initiative holds great potential to drive significant environmental impact, particularly in large-scale #seaweed cultivation scenarios. 🌍♻️ #SustainableInnovation #BlueEconomy #Seaweed #TextileRevolution #regnerative
Kickoff meeting: 23 and 24 September! During two days, the consortium gathered at CITEVE to collaborate on developing novel cellulosic fibres and bioformulations for textile finishing using waste from agricultural practices, algae production, and post-consumer home textiles. The meeting included presentations from work package leaders, visits to CITEVE's laboratories and recycling structures, as well as visits to the industrial facilities of JFAlmeida and Mi Casa Es Tu Casa. There were also plenty of networking opportunities and opportunities to get to know each other better! Stay tuned on TexMaTer project!
