Plugging Along with Seven Countries Testing 3.0. Recently, ATSC members, Sinclair Inc., along with the Pearl TV consortium, hosted an ATSC 3.0 device interoperability test at the ONE Media Technologies lab. This interop event was focused on NextGen TV elements such as digital rights management and signing in connection with MMT (MPEG Media Transport) and ROUTE (Real-time Object delivery over Unidirectional Transport), the Advanced Emergency Information broadcaster application, as well as basic interoperability testing of new models from TV set manufacturers. The testing sessions involved most of the major hardware and software players in the field of NextGen TV—some two dozen—including encoder technology providers, emergency alerting gear, test equipment and receiver manufacturers. In addition to providing the facility, Sinclair also distributed ATSC 3.0 off-air signals from Baltimore broadcasters to provide a real-world environment. More than 60 participants traveled from seven countries to participate in the June 3-7 ATSC 3.0 ‘Interop’ testing event. INSIGHT: Cable migration to IP Long time talked about, especially in US, where it started with IP Multicast, then failed. "During "5G Broadcasting: measurements and drive testing" presentation, it took place a brief introduction regarding the Enhancements of 5G Broadcast to LTE of the different releases of the 3GPP, as well as the modes for 5G Broadcast: mixed and dedicated mode. Results from two trials were shown, where the portable analyzer HEXYLON from GSERTEL was used to monitor the 5G Broadcast signals and the traditional 5G, utilized for the video contribution from the filming cameras. In the dedicated 5G channel scenario, HEXYLON measures considering the main change in the synchronism part: the adoption of extended CP (Cyclic Prefix). The signaling of dedicated mode channels is completely different from the one of traditional LTE channels.
