Law firms : *spend tens of thousands on conferences to get 10 people in a room or an email list* Michelle: *no BD budget, so spends 0 $, posts once a week on LinkedIn, reaches 10,000+ people, add 1,000 ideal clients on her audience size, builds a list of 50 warm leads, gets her first 3 enquiries* I am not saying conferences and dinners don't work. Of course they do. But they're expensive and not scalable. They cost your partners days of their time, for very little return on their own. I am not about using social media alone. But it gives you a magnitude of reach that no other channel can give you (outside of Ads, but then you have to pay) If you're a law firm, get your partners to build their online presence, then organise events, dinners with people who are *already* warm to do business with them. And if you're a partner, stop relying on your law firm BD & Marketing team to do all the heavy lifting. They can only do so much for you individually. Take ownership over your pipeline. Luckily for you, I am making it easy to get started for $150. DM me if you'd like to find out more.

Making the Most of Conference Season I know many lawyers are going to trade and industry and professional / legal association conferences during the Summer and early Fall. 2024 and part of 2023 has opened these up these face to face opportunities again post Covid (It’s somewhat subjective whether we’re post Covid or not). Most attorneys I work with appreciate the chance to meet in person with clients, colleagues, and prospective clients. However, they share that firms have tightened the belt on sponsoring conferences and paying for attendance. Hey, even a modest conference with flight, hotel, registration, etc. can be $3,000. A sponsorship can be from $5,000-$20,000 (or less or more!) I’ve developed the Pipeline graphic from many sources over the last few years. It helps attorneys realize the journey a client, casual acquaintance, or new contact takes over time and their level of engagement. Yes, you likely have a Pipeline and if not, you should. Maybe you’ll recognize “so and so is here in the Pipeline.” The key is making proactive and strategic efforts to move people from right to left and from bottom to top along the continuum. We saw in a recent ABA poll that people/companies with legal problems value a call with their friends and colleagues for a recommendation as the most important factor when choosing an attorney 92% of the time. Those are your clients in the upper right of the timeline. Treat them like royalty! You might reference this Pipeline to justify attendance at a conference and in next year’s budget when requesting attendance, “Here is what I know about developing contacts into loyal clients and here is how I’m going to use this conference to do just that!” Go get 'em! #lawfirmmarketing #lawfirmgrowth #attorneymarketing #lawyercoach #legalbusiness

Sherrie Sokolowski shares essential tips for planning law firm events: "If you love what you see at other events, bring those ideas to yours. If not, avoid them!" Preparation is crucial. "Plan for logistics in advance," from comfortable room temperatures to ensuring refreshments are stocked. If you’re a legal service provider and spent thousands on physical events this year with little return, meet Michelle. Michelle is a partner in a law firm and in a few months with: - no BD budget - posting once a week on LinkedIn She - reached 10,000+ people - add 1,000’s ideal clients in her pipeline - buillt a list of 50 warm leads - got her first 3 enquiries - generated 60K+ of business I am not saying conferences and dinners don't work. Of course they do. But they're expensive and not scalable. They cost your people days of their time, for very little return on their own. I am not about using social media alone. But it gives you a magnitude of reach that no other channel can give you (outside of Ads, but then you have to pay) If you've got a team, get your partners to build their online presence, then organise events, dinners with people who are *already* warm to do business with them. And if you're a partner like Michelle, stop relying on your law firm BD & Marketing team to do all the heavy lifting. They can only do so much for you individually. Take ownership over your pipeline. If you’re a legal service / tech provider (ALSP, law firm, legal tech) I mapped out the entire framework she followed (aka mine) DM me if you'd like to get your copy

The value of conferences isn’t just in attending – it’s in the relationships you build. In our latest episode of the Happy Rainmaker series, Jamie Sternberg, founder of Drumlin Strategies, shares her insights on attending the right conferences and making them count. Her advice? Build your schedule in advance! • If you need CLE credits, put those on your schedule first. • Then take a look at other committee meetings or if your law firm's hosting a dinner, so all the non-negotiables. • Lastly, take a look at the directory of people attending and see if you can schedule any meals, coffee chats, or other quick 10 minute meetings to further build your relationships. Watch the full video on YouTube for more valuable tips. #BusinessDevelopment #Networking #LegalMarketing #HappyRainmaker #Conferences #CareerGrowth #### Hi, I'm Jen. I'm a legal talent agent. I help lawyers become rainmakers and Rainmakers find their exact right perfect fit firm.

Busy busy week… 1. Knee deep in various legal directories submissions - remember that the first Chambers deadline is very nearly upon us. Get in touch if you need a last minute Review. 👍 2. Supporting a law firm with their annual staff conference for strategic internal and external comms purposes. 3. Early doors conversations around a sensitive PR / reputational issue for a law firm. Lots of thought going into this one. 4. Looking forward to seeing some of the senior Chambers team in Birmingham on Wednesday. 5. Looking forward to seeing (most of) my team f2f on Thursday. 👍 We’ll miss you Tom Wilde. 6. Ongoing creative and brand work for one of our international client’s lovely new website, getting ready for a full launch. 7. Drafting informative and practical content for The Law Society publication Managing for Success. 8. Putting final touches to exclusive invitations to senior lawyers, partners and owners of law firms to Manchester Christmas Drinks with collaborators Tracey Longbottom, Alex Holt and Martyn Best. *Realisation that I actually do need to go and do all of this work… 😂😂😂
