Don't let this photo be the last way your children and future generations can see the Borneo bay cat. We can still save this Endangered species. The bay cat is an Endangered species only found on the island of Borneo; its dense forests make this cat species one of the most mysterious and elusive felids in the world. Panthera is just beginning to uncover its mysteries through our ten-year camera survey in Malaysian Borneo. However, we need to work quickly. Habitat fragmentation and the illegal wildlife trade pose serious threats for this already imperiled and enigmatic species — only a handful of images of it exist! Our data is helping us guide conservation strategies for this species before it's too late. When we protect Borneo bay cats, we protect Bornean forests, who need wild cat species to regulate nutrient cycles that power this exceptionally biodiverse, fragile and timeless ecosystem.
