Dheeraj Sanghi (who's held top positions in IIT-Delhi, IIIT Delhi, and is now VC at JKLU Jaipur) has articulated the most important problem with our CS/IT engineering colleges. 80% of our graduates are unemployable. And that's because most of them pass their courses by copying most of their programming assignments throughout their 4 years. I evaluate hundreds of thousands of our fresh CS/IT engineering student graduates on behalf of companies, and I completely agree with this assessment. IIIT's order for M-Tech CSE & M-Tech DA by considering placements 1.IIIT Hyderabad - average package 20L-25L similar to old IITs, but fee is high, workload is higher, number of cse students (btech + mtech) is higher than old iits. IIIT Bangalore - average 20L-25L. Fee very high. Cutoff similar to IIT Hyderabad, IIT Guwahati. Location advantage IIIT delhi- avg 12-15. Better than middle or new IITs. But not better than top 5 NITs IIIT allahabad - average 10 .. Package is similar to IIT bhilai, Nit allahabad. Huge no of students. Rest IIIT gwalior, IIIT chennai are good only if you have no other options. But placement percentage is not good. Avg package-5 comment your experience

MCA - Master of Computer Applications used to be a prestigious degree in country but I see that institutions are dropping it. Like IIT Roorkee dropped it in 2014, NIT Durgapur discontinued MCA in 2019, followed by NIT Calicut and NIT Patna in 2022. NIT Surathkal will also drop their MCA program in 2025. Whatever may be the case, may the reason for trend be people's opinion regarding course Btech being equivalent to BCA+MCA, or for removing a confusing alternative of Btech which doesn't add more value than creating more degree options for students. But from my personal experience, even if all above opinions are right, I have seen MCA being a life saver for those students who right away after their 10+2 can't decide the right stream for themselves and later during their graduation in some other course like Bcom or BA realise that they should enter a technical stream. A course like MCA opens doors for them to have a solid foundation or a degree which can be used to apply to companies. Writing this post because I have seen capable and hard working developers getting rejected from companies because of not having a degree in Computer Science, just because they later in life decided to change the path of their lives. Still can't say if it's the right decision by institutions to drop such a course right now but definitely it's too early for them to be doing this. #SaveMCA #MCAGraduates #TechEducation #HigherEducation

Placement woes continue with 60% IIT Gandhinagar students still awaiting offers Around 60 percent of students in the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Gandhinagar, are yet to secure jobs in the ongoing placement season 2023-24, According to data revealed total 398 students sat for the current placement process. However, 117 are placed so far, while 46 received pre-placement offers (PPOs). As of May 7, the average salary offered stands at Rs 18.20 lakh per annum (LPA), while the median salary is Rs 14.43 lakh, similar to the last placement season. In the 2022-23 placement season, 29 percent (75) of students did not get jobs through campus placement. This number was 25 percent (59) in the 2021-22 placement season. The IIT Gandhinagar was founded in 2008 and is located in Palaj in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, on the banks of the river Sabarmati. IIT (ISM)-Dhanbad, IIT Hyderabad, IIT BHU, IIT Indore, IIT Jammu, and IIT Palakkad are also facing challenges in managing to get job offers for 30-60 percent of their students in the ongoing placement season.
