Innovate UK Catalyses Telecommunications-Enabled Decarbonisation Last week, Cambium LLP facilitated a dynamic workshop on behalf of Innovate UK, bringing together innovative businesses funded through Innovate UK's Net Zero Living Programme. These businesses are developing ideas aimed at delivering value to the telecommunications sector and supporting the UK's decarbonisation efforts. Key attendees included Nicolas Wallet and Alex Watkins from Innovate UK, alongside Richard Foggie from Innovate UK Business Connect. The session provided a forum to share perspectives on the innovation process, discuss the potential of #5G, #6G, data analytics, and #AI as enablers of faster decarbonisation across UK economic sectors, and explore the value of closer collaboration between telecommunications and IT businesses in supporting the UK's net zero journey. We were pleased to receive valuable contributions from John Okas of Real Wireless, Tom Carpenter of Mycelium Networks, Sarthak Sethi of FlexiPhone, and Mike Bonaventura from Cambium LLP. Their insights broadened our understanding of the challenges and opportunities in this crucial area. We will continue conversations with other members of the Net Zero Telco cohort, including: Integrated Systems Engineering, Murcott Energy Ltd, Novacene, Orion Technologies Ltd, and Tagntell Technology. Our aim is to understand how their innovations can support the transition to net zero and the increasing role of telecommunications in that evolution. The dialogues thus far have revealed promising opportunities for collaborative innovation between the IT and telecommunications sectors, addressing key challenges in the net zero transition. We look forward to sharing more detailed insights with Innovate UK soon. We also welcome your thoughts: How might collaborations between telecommmunications and IT innovation contribute to the UK's net zero transition? #NetZero #Telecommunications #Innovation #Sustainability

🌍 UK Telecoms: Driving the Future of Sustainability 🌱 As the UK telecom industry plays an increasingly pivotal role in our digital economy, there’s a growing responsibility for operators to lead the charge toward a more sustainable future. A recent article from Edie highlights a critical call for the telecom sector to leverage its influence to accelerate green initiatives and reduce carbon emissions. The piece underscores that, while telecoms are often seen as part of the solution to global connectivity, they must also take action to ensure that their own operations are driving positive environmental change. At DTC Telecom, we’re proud to support the industry’s transition to more sustainable practices. Here’s how we’re contributing: 🌱 Sustainable Network Hardware: We supply green-market telecom equipment, offering fully refurbished hardware that not only cuts costs but also reduces e-waste, helping operators meet their sustainability targets. 🔄 Circular Economy: Our Reverse Logistics Solutions enable operators to resell and recycle surplus equipment, creating new revenue streams and contributing to a circular economy. Reuse over recycling wherever possible! 📊 Maximizing Network Lifecycles: We help extend the life of network infrastructure through expert services including a fully-tailored Green SPMS, repairs, upgrades, and maintenance, reducing the need for frequent replacements and supporting long-term sustainability. As the article points out, the telecom industry is uniquely positioned to contribute to the UK’s net-zero goals. But to make a real impact, operators must embrace sustainable practices at every level of their operations. At DTC Telecom, we’re committed to being a part of that transformation, providing cost-effective, sustainable solutions that help our clients build a greener, more efficient future.
