This architectural concept presents a cylindrical, multi-tiered structure with a central void, allowing natural light to permeate all levels. The design is unique for its circular form, creating a 360-degree panorama for each level, each boasting its own pool and terrace garden, giving the impression of a vertical resort. The topmost level features a larger communal pool and garden, maximizing the view of the horizon. The innovation lies in the villa’s ability to offer privacy and openness simultaneously, as each level is both inward-looking and outward-reaching. This concept redefines the luxury villa as not just a living space but a vertical landscape, providing a serene and immersive natural environment while optimizing the available footprint.

What do we gain when we blur the boundaries between indoor and outdoor living spaces? This modernist villa, with its striking floor-to-ceiling glass panels and seamless integration with its lush surroundings, embodies a trend that's reshaping contemporary design: the dissolution of the divide between inside and out. The precision of concrete paired with expansive glass fosters transparency and openness, making nature an essential part of daily living. My own experience with a recent project echoes this—clients shared how such designs enhance their sense of wellbeing, cultivating a connection with nature even indoors. With a 23% increase in demand for such hybrid spaces in residential designs (Architectural Digest, 2022), this isn't just a passing fad. It signifies a deeper shift towards creating sanctuaries that offer peace in the midst of urban chaos. How do you see this blending of environments influencing future architectural projects? Let's explore this evolving trend together. Share your thoughts below or reach out to discuss further!

This 1980s-style high-rise apartment in the heart of New York City underwent a transformative journey. With breathtaking views of the New York City skyline, the original layout of the apartment didn’t do justice to its spectacular surroundings. The design challenge was clear: how do we seamlessly integrate these views into the clients’ daily experience? By collaborating closely with the architect from day one, we reimagined the flow of this home. The living areas were reoriented to capture the most stunning vistas, turning a once overlooked backdrop into the apartment’s centerpiece. This is more than just a renovation; it’s a reimagination of how this family lives, works, and entertains in the city they love—proof that design isn’t just about aesthetics but about enhancing the human experience. This corner commercial building in the MIDC industrial area was designed to stand out and become a landmark for the entire zone. The aim was to create a focal point especially for pedestrian traffic. We incorporated Vastu principles, using different forms to create a sense of curiosity. The brahmastan, a concept from ancient Indian architectural tradition known as Vastu Shastra, refers to the central, sacred space of a structure. It’s considered the heart of the building, promoting harmony and balance, much like a courtyard in traditional Western architecture. In this design, it serves as the focal point, bringing a sense of openness and energy flow to the entire building. The building is intentionally taller and heavier on the southwest side, while the north side is open, featuring a podium and swimming pool for a welcoming view. Fins were added on the southern side to block direct sunlight from the offices. Each room also has a balcony that provides shade while adding a stylish touch. The lower two floors are for shops, with offices, recreational spaces, service apartments, and a rooftop restaurant above. The façade uses clay tiles to reduce heat absorption, combining form with function. Milind Rode Rutuja Rode Priyanka B. Ar.
