Indonesia’s Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) is taking significant steps to accelerate the development of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) in the country. Eniya Listiani Dewi, Director General of New Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation, emphasized the importance of SAF, stating, "The roadmap for SAF for aircraft has been issued by the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime and Investment Affairs Republic of Indonesia, and we are giving inputs." The implementation of SAF is expected to increase airfares for flights from Singapore to Indonesia, as the use of SAF at Singapore Changi Airport Group will lead to higher costs. Dewi explained, “The return tickets for our aircraft coming to Singapore Changi Airport will be much more expensive because they require one percent SAF, and the SAF price is charged to the passenger tickets.” Despite the potential cost increase, Dewi views this as a business opportunity for Indonesia. PT Pertamina (Persero), the state-run oil and gas company, is prepared to push palm-based biofuel, which could boost investments in renewable energy. The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources has urged Pertamina to speed up SAF development efforts, with the company already collaborating with industry giants Airbus and Boeing. A notable milestone was achieved on October 27, 2023, when Pertamina and Garuda Indonesia conducted the first commercial flight using SAF on the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport–Adi Soemarmo Airport route. This achievement underscores Indonesia's commitment to sustainable aviation. In 2021, Pertamina’s refining and petrochemical subholding, PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional, produced J2.4 SAF at the IV Cilacap Refinery Unit. This SAF was developed using co-processing technology with refined bleached deodorized palm kernel oil (RBDPKO) and has a capacity of 1,350 kiloliters per day. These efforts are part of Indonesia’s broader strategy to enhance its renewable energy sector and reduce carbon emissions in aviation. #AvfoilNews #SustainableAviationFuel #SAF #Indonesia #RenewableEnergy #Pertamina #GarudaIndonesia #Aviation #Sustainability #GreenAviation #Innovation

🌍 Exciting Developments at Repsol! 🌿✨ We are proud to announce a pivotal step in our commitment to #sustainability: the Kali Berau Dalam (KBD) gas field development in South Sumatra, designed to pioneer net-zero operations in the industry. Repsol has awarded the FEED contract to Synergy Engineering for this ambitious $630 million project, which is not just a gas development initiative but a benchmark for future energy projects. 🔧 The KBD project is meticulously planned around the KBD 2X well pad with a central processing facility (CPF) designed to handle a substantial #naturalgas processing capacity of 135 million cubic feet per day. This facility will integrate cutting-edge technology for gas processing and high CO2 content management, crucial given the field's 26% CO2 concentration. 🌱 In alignment with our zero-emission goal, the project includes the construction of a 20-kilometer pipeline to transport CO2 to Medco Energi’s Grissik plant for storage. This initiative is complemented by a comprehensive carbon capture and storage (#CCS) scheme, marking it as Indonesia's first and a pioneering project for Repsol. The CCS scheme, poised to start in 2027, will capture and store about 2 million tonnes of CO2 annually, targeting a cumulative reduction of 30 million tonnes by 2040. 🛠️ Technical enhancements extend to drilling two new production wells and installing additional infrastructure, including a pipeline that links the CPF to the existing TGI pipeline. This ensures seamless integration with existing facilities, bolstering efficiency and minimizing environmental impact. 💧 Addressing #watermanagement, the project incorporates a produced water pipeline from the CPF to the Kukulambar well pad for water injection, underlining our commitment to responsible resource management. 🔄 The KBD gas development is expected to produce nearly 474.28 billion cubic feet of gas by 2040, significantly contributing to Indonesia's energy security and economic growth. This development is under close watch by industry experts due to its potential impact and innovative approach to sustainability. 🌟 This is an example on how #technology and #innovation enable the transition to a sustainable energy future, where each project, including KBD, not only meets global energy demands but does so responsibly and sustainably. Here in our #RepsolTechLab we are very proud to contribute to these transformative technological engines.

Almost all of my social media feeds have been saying that this month (May) felt like it would never end. Yet, here we are at the end of the month. This means it's time for my May Recap! This month, we had project classes to support our final project, such as: - Idea and Customer Validation - Market and Problem Validation - Project Management-Last Planner System In addition to project classes, we also had our regular curriculum classes. 'Intelligent Systems in Renewable Energy Systems' and 'Hydropower Plant' (chapters 1-3) were among them. Now, onto my favorite class! *cue drum roll sound effect* It's 'Intelligent Systems in Renewable Energy Systems' taught by Mr. Mansur Maturidi Arief. This class was a continuation from the previous month (Green Jobs and Intelligent Systems). Mr. Mansur's encouragement for active participation, along with case studies, data, and tools provided to help choose the optimal placement of geothermal wells for maximizing energy yields, made this class stand out as my favorite! And with that, I conclude my recap of the latest updates. Until next time! AMATI Indonesia GAWIREA #MerawatWallaceaMerawatIndonesia #MSIB #StudiIndenpenden #KampusMerdeka #AMATIIndonesia #NetZeroHero
