POLATI PROJECTS POLATI, LLC started the realization of works on the scaffolding assembling at the object JSC APATIT in five days after receiving the request from the customer. In record time, the staff was mobilized and the material delivered. The project started without a preliminary study: the company’s specialists developed online engineering solutions for the installation, taking into account all the difficulties of access. The result was the assembly of a construction wedge scaffolding around installations absorbers 101ЕА and 101ЕВ, ammonia unit No. 1 in the amount of 5,400 m3 for 120 hours. The Ajookuta Steel Project- the Untold Story part 4 By Pius Ebong The nomenclature “STEEL COMPLEX” is often mistaken to mean one company with many production lines, for manufacture of Iron and Steel. This is very erroneous. To date, most of our leaders consider Ajaokuta Steel Complex Limited (ASCL) to be one out of the numerous industrial blunders of the nation. Whereas ASCL was an outcome of a carefully thought through, well planned “BASIC INDUSTRY’S DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME”, of the Federal Government, with Project Components in thirty seven (37) Industrial Manufacturing and Utilities Sectors, making it (to date), the most diversified Industrial Development Portfolio in the entire Federal Economic Development Continuum in Nigeria. To break this down further, there are thirty six separate medium seize Industries clustered in one location, plus one Metallurgical Training Institute with the status of a well-equipped University of Science and Technology. However these separate units of one Industry was designed to function in unison, complementing each for greater economic benefit. The greatest undoing of this project is lack of understanding of the intent, size, purpose and benefits of a functional Steel production plants in Nigeria. ASCL is more equipped with machines and equipment for the manufacture of machine parts, tools, fixtures of various specifications, building and construction materials etc. The four power plants in ASCL are capable of supplying uninterrupted electricity to four states of the federation, yet it is presently lying idle. While the training school is capable of preparing Technicians and and Artisans in all fields of building/construction, mechanical/electrical repairs, welding etc for the nation. It is also worthy of note that the Auxiliary Units of Lime Plant and two number Refractory Plants in the comlex are equivalent to three Cement Plants at the cement industry at Abajana.
