All excellent points on creating a positive atmosphere and environment for workplace success across all age groups. Under #4 how about adding, first, don't periodically lay off your 50+ workers thinking you're going to save money and boost your stock price and/or save operating costs in the short term, and pension liability in the long run. The #facman Facilities industry is a prime example of one challenged both by an aging workforce and the value of knowledge management. Years of relationships honed and nurtured over years cannot be replaced in a month with cheaper, younger workers. #Trust takes time and effort to develop and RIFs of your most experienced workers are no way to preserve it. https://lnkd.in/eDuBnAPr On the flip side, everyone has to be open and aware of skill development requirements and work collaboratively to ensure that skills--regardless of physical age, meet and are aligned with ongoing needs. Led by the Construction Industry Culture Taskforce (CICT). 𝟴𝟰% 𝗼𝗳 𝘀𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗹𝗲. 61% of waged respondents do too. 64% of workers currently exceed 50 hours per week. At Dixons, we have been focusing on prioritising flexibility for our teachers to support greater work life harmony. As a result, we are excited to launch our new flexible working plan which will come into effect in the next academic year (24 / 25) and includes working towards a nine-day fortnight for teachers. We want to be bold in our approach. Our ambition is for teachers to be afforded the same flexibility that’s available in many other sectors and now even expected in the post pandemic world. Given the nature of teaching, we know that the scale of this flexibility will not always match what others offer outside the sector, but making these changes will go a long way in making a difference.
