Rooh Galkacyo puntland Somalia 🇸🇴 When planting crops, you must prepare the land. As trainers, we have a strategy to ensure science and innovation receive the focused attention needed to improve productivity for small-scale farmers, family farmers, and indigenous knowledge farmers. As you see, we use pouring ash onto the soil as one form of indigenous knowledge. Although it has benefits, such as: -Balancing the pH level of the soil. -Being a nutrient source: ash contains essential nutrients like potassium, calcium, and magnesium. -Pest control: sprinkling ash around plants can deter pests such as slugs and snails. Surely, I am committed to moving forward with this momentum and changing harsh mentalities towards this industry until we reach guaranteed food security along with improvement in the local economy. #Ourvision is to cultivate peace and prosperity in Somalia through Sustainable Agriculture development. #FAO #Welthungerhilfe #WorldFoodProgram #FoodSecurityStandard #Sustainability #RAAS #Climatesmartpractices #EnvironmentalSustainability

#NestarCoffee nestarcoffee.com #Uganda #HaltAndReverseForesloss Uganda’s forest cover has declined from 35% to 15% over the past 100 years, with an estimated forest cover loss of 88,000 ha per year. Increasing agricultural activities and weak forest governance are putting pressure on forest resources and forest lands. Other drivers of deforestation in Uganda include charcoal production, firewood harvesting, livestock grazing, timber production, and human settlement and urbanization. These drivers have caused a significant decline in forest vegetation and forest products, as well as triggering conflicts over access, use and control of forest resources. The Forest Carbon Partnership Facility (FCPF) has created a normative framework for REDD+ readiness and provides a robust platform for information exchange and knowledge sharing on a wide range of REDD+ design and implementation issues. click the link below to learn more... on #FCPFStandard and mandate https://lnkd.in/dbaxv6TE Source: https://lnkd.in/dTeAbZ7B

As the rains begin to fall in Zimbabwe, smallholder farmers are busy preparing their fields and starting to plant. Most rural farmers practice conservation agriculture through a practice called Pfumvudza or Intwasa. It promotes the efficient production of different crop varieties like maize and the more resilient traditional grains or small grains. This season, we’re encouraged by the resilience and dedication of our farmers as they work tirelessly toward a more food-secure future. Welthungerhilfe (WHH) remains committed to supporting Zimbabwean communities in advancing sustainable agricultural practices that contribute to the global goal of zero hunger. Through knowledge-sharing, partnerships, and unwavering support, we’re fostering food security for generations to come. Let’s celebrate the hard work of smallholder farmers and wish them a bountiful season ahead! #ZeroHunger #FoodSystemsTransformation #SustainableAgriculture

Day 10: Example: Kenya’s Farmer Cooperative 🌍 **Example: Kenya’s Farmer Cooperative** In Kenya, farmer cooperatives have successfully built storage facilities and improved access to markets. The Meru Central Dairy Cooperative Union is a notable example, where farmers pooled resources to build cooling facilities for milk storage. This initiative has drastically reduced spoilage, increased incomes, and enhanced the overall quality of life for cooperative members. Such models can be replicated in other regions to drive sustainable agricultural development and improve rural livelihoods.
