🌲 Only 12% of ancient temperate rainforests here in Wales are legally protected. This leads to mis-managed sites and the irreversible loss of others. Invasive species such as Rhododendron threaten the health of many sites, whilst dependencies on declining populations such as Ash only contribute to a bleak future. These woodlands are irreplaceable wildlife havens. They support a unique range of biodiversity, particularly diverse in plants and insects. They also showcase the past, allowing us to enhance our scientific knowledge and understanding in conservation areas such as rewilding, habitat restoration, and changes to community dynamics over time. It's encouraging to learn that Welsh conservation bodies have banded together, forming the Alliance for Wales' Rainforests (#AWR), to combat the threats these unique habitats face. This cooperation will hopefully enhance conservation success, brightening the future for these natural historical relics. Its #NationalHedgerowWeek, which celebrates British Hedgerows: the UK's largest wildlife habitat. 🌿 Hedgerows are vital for countless species across the UK, providing food, shelter, and corridors for movement between other important habitats. 🐿 Hedgerows are essential for maintaining biodiversity, and are legally protected if they are: 📏 More than 20 meters long 🕰 At least 30 years old ⭐️ Are 'important' as part of a protected historic site or contain protected species With our habitat creation, clearance and restoration services, we can support you to navigate complex requirements relating to hedgerows and provide improvements to this important habitat on development sites: https://lnkd.in/dvEF3HD8 #biodiversity #wildlifehabitat #natureconservation #wildlifehabitat #habitatmanagement

🌟WEDNESDAY WIN🌟 Bradford and South Pennines Bradford City’s Moorland birds will flourish with a new partnership project spreading over 300 square kilometres of Bradford City and surrounding areas. The Project will restore habitats for moorland birds such as ‘the endangered Twite’ and will help to manage and reduce flood risks by: • Connecting wetland habitats to allow a more natural flow of water which will prevent build ups and overflow. • Creating ‘Green Corridors’ / biodiversity corridors, that allow birds/wildlife to move more freely, this means there will be areas designated for plants for a natural wildlife habitat. • The project will also help to restore habitats for moorland birds such as the endangered twite. The project is a huge win for wildlife but also the local communities by providing more access and connection to Nature. #MoorlandBirds #Twite #Bradford #Nature Source: https://lnkd.in/eguMZZhU

This is such a wonderful thing to read Treeapp 😍 🤩 #Sustainability #TreeApp #SourceCorporateEvents
Our planting site in Scotland is no ordinary location. 🔍 The Berwickshire woodland was carefully selected to be a part of our UK reforestation initiative as it aims to heal the land severely affected by the Arwen storm in 2021. ⛈ This catastrophic event led to the destruction of 16 million trees, impacting Scotland's native woodlands and crucial wildlife habitats. 🌳 🐦 We aim to reforest the site with a focus on improving species diversity and planting structure to ensure more resilient woodland. This in turn will protect the woodland from future damage and restore the current loss of biodiversity. If you want to find out more about planting process in Berwickshire, go on.... read our blog! Broadwater Lake Latest News! 💧 The planning application to build a new Watersports Facility and Activity Centre at Broadwater Lake is NOT on the Hillingdon Council Planning Committee Agenda for 14 March as originally planned. We wonder why? Is it because: 👎 By approving the development, Hillingdon Council would be failing in its statutory duty to conserve and enhance biodiversity ❌ Intensive watersports cannot successfully coexist with nature on a lake the size of Broadwater Lake, and that the case sets a damaging precedent for other SSSIs across the UK. 🚨 Many biodiversity impacts have been underplayed or discounted in order to justify a finding of no adverse effects on the SSSI. We await more details and will let you know. 👉 You can find out more about the threat to Broadwater Lake and how you can still take action: https://ow.ly/t2EX50QNuKR RSPB Wildlife and Countryside Link Buglife Colne Valley Regional Park The Bat Conservation Trust Wildfowl & Wetland Trust The Wildlife Trusts

Celebrate US National Wildlife Day! Join us in recognizing and protecting the incredible wildlife that calls our country home. Let's raise awareness, take action, and make a difference for our furry and feathered friends. Together, we can ensure a thriving future for all. #NationalWildlifeDay #ProtectOurWildlife #JoinTheCause As of 2023, the United States is home to a vast array of wildlife, with approximately 432 species of mammals, over 800 species of birds, and 300 species of reptiles. Despite conservation efforts, nearly 1,300 species are currently listed as threatened or endangered under the Endangered Species Act. If this is indeed true that is very frightening as it includes almost all of our wildlife! The U.S. also faces significant challenges from habitat loss, climate change, and invasive species, which continue to impact the health and diversity of its ecosystems. Conservation programs remain critical in protecting these species and preserving the nation's rich biodiversity.

🌍 World Rhino Day 2024: Protecting Our Heritage, Shaping Our Future 🦏 Today, we come together to celebrate these majestic creatures and raise awareness about the urgent need to protect rhinos from poaching, habitat loss, and the growing threats they face in the wild. As global leaders, organizations, and communities, it’s not just about preserving a species — it's about safeguarding biodiversity, securing ecosystems, and recognizing the impact that conservation efforts have on future generations. 🔍 What can we do? Support conservation programs that directly protect rhino populations. Educate others about the critical role rhinos play in the environment. Advocate for stronger policies to end illegal poaching and wildlife trafficking. I understand the importance of taking action — whether in conservation or in leadership — to build a sustainable future. Let’s unite for a world where rhinos thrive, because their survival is our responsibility. #WorldRhinoDay #ConservationMatters #RhinoConservation #SustainableFuture #LeadsChange #BiodiversityProtection #IndustrialPsychology #LeadershipForChange
