Here’s a question. If something is the right thing to do, how patient should you be? Our first exchange with the Effie board was on February 25th, 2011. Since then, we have talked about this alliance with various leaders of the brand across the years, but it takes some true vision (I mean you Jae Goodman and you Traci Alford) to get over the numerous hurdles to make this a reality. Marketers, brands, agencies — everyone in our business — need creativity and effectiveness to align and this will help that happen more than ever. Lesson of the day: good things come to those who wait. A million “Thank yous” to the amazing Ascential and Effie teams who worked tirelessly to unite our brands.

It's that time of year again, when our feeds are flooded with "best of the year" lists, awards, and accolades for marketers. While many of these recognitions are well-deserved, if you work for a smaller brand, you might feel unnoticed or left out--and it's perfectly okay to feel that way. It doesn't make you a jealous person or mean that you are somehow less for feeling that way. And while it's true that most of these lists and awards only feature work from major brands or large agencies, that doesn't mean that the work of marketers at smaller brands isn't just as creative or impactful. So, to those of you working day in and day out on small brands without much budget or national name recognition, I just want to say--I see you.

Today, Performance Marketing World launched its very first Diversity Steering Committee session. The purpose of the group is to bridge the gap between agencies, brands, and publishers, in the performance marketing space to share knowledge, set goals, hold each other accountable, and form a safe space to discuss diversity and inclusivity in an open matter. This is a project that I pitched to PMW which I am very passionate about and very proud to be a part of. I believe it is important to hold these conversations and for people to show up, ask questions, and learn from one another to make positive changes. Thank you to Issy Chambury, Andrew Goldsmith, Rob Jackson, Chris Devlin, and Serlina Boyd for attending the first session as well as the PMW team Robin Langford, Joseph Arthur, and Jyoti Rambhai for joining and for your support. Thank you as well to Celine Yaseen, Samantha Johnston, and Thouraya Hamade for supporting the launch of the committee.
