There is a lot of admire about MacKenzie Scott’s approach to #philanthropy - it centers grantee partners, operates from a place of trust and has provided an enormous boost to countless organizations doing critical work. Her latest announcement, however, cemented her status as ‘best in class’ changemaker in my book by specifically naming the way her assets are invested: “When I make gifts, rather than withdrawing funds from a bank account, or from a stock portfolio that increases the wealth and influence of leaders who already have it, I’d like to withdraw them from a portfolio of investments in mission-aligned ventures, with leaders from the populations they are serving, or from generally undercapitalized groups like women and people of color. In this way, the money can help address these issues twice, first by advancing economic mobility and unlocking the innovation and social benefit that comes from incorporating diverse needs and perspectives in the world being constructed around us, and next in the hands of experienced non-profit teams creating value through their transformative models of care and change.” 💪💪💪 https://lnkd.in/eBpMR-9u

Documenting Family Histories and Preserving Powerful Legacies 👪 🏆 Documenting family histories and preserving powerful legacies is a meaningful endeavor that connects generations and imparts wisdom. Here are some essential insights: What should you know ❓ Preserving your family legacy goes beyond honoring ancestors; it lays the foundation for future generations. By understanding your family's history, you gain insights into their challenges and successes. This knowledge serves as inspiration and guidance for your own journey. Why should you know❓ Passing down cherished values and traditions provides a moral compass and identity for your descendants. In today's fragmented world, preserving your family heritage fosters a sense of belonging and community. How does it work ⚙️ One crucial method is documenting family stories: ● Oral Histories: Interview older family members to capture their memories and experiences. Record these conversations to preserve their unique perspectives. ● Written Memoirs: Encourage family members to write about their lives, memories, and lessons learned. These personal narratives provide invaluable insights. ● Video Recordings: Create video interviews or family documentaries. Visual storytelling adds depth and emotion to your family's legacy. 👉🏻 What to do next: Remember, each story contributes to a rich tapestry that future generations can learn from and cherish. 🌟 Feel free to explore your family's history and share it with loved ones—it's a gift that keeps on giving! 📜🌿 > Watch UBS TRENDING – PRESERVING A FAMILY’S LEGACY below. > Curious about learning more? What comes to mind when you think of family businesses? As a family-owned research company, we have some ideas (and maybe a few funny stories) about what people think of when they hear “family business.” But we know better than to assume—we’re researchers after all! We’re launching a Community Perception Survey to better understand how people really see family businesses. Are they legacy builders, community supporters, or something else entirely? We need YOUR perspective! By sharing your thoughts, you’ll help shape a clearer picture of how family businesses are perceived—and maybe even challenge a few of our assumptions. Plus, it’s quick and easy (we promise). 👉 Take the survey here: https://lnkd.in/eJ_W9ijn For my #familybusiness owner friends: Your opinion ALWAYS matters to us. With that said, this time we’re looking for insights from non-family business folks—we want to hear how “the other side” sees us! Don’t worry—we’ve got you covered. We’ll absolutely share the results with you—we're sure you’ll find these insights just as fascinating as we will. Thank you for helping us uncover what the community narrative is around family businesses. #FamilyBusiness #ResearchInAction #CommunityVoices #ShapeTheStory

Justice Funders is excited to partner with our longtime co-conspirator, Gerald Mitchell, for the dynamic, one-time offering, Intro to Somatics of Money! This offering is for all funders, investors, and resource mobilizers interested in reimagining and embodying a transformative relationship to money—one that is heart-centered, grounded in spirit, and allows us to collectively live in right relationship with ourselves, other beings, and the earth. Together, through guided meditation, discussions, and somatic practices, we will explore our feelings, emotions, and definitions related to money. We will better understand where they originate for us individually and collectively, how they impact us personally and professionally, and begin to tap our imagination to see beyond restrictive notions and extractive cycles, so that we may center people and planet over money, and move towards a Just Transition. *Please note that this offering is scheduled for the afternoon/evening, so participants don't schedule major events/meetings after the workshop to rest and recover. Registration Deadline: June 10, 2024 RSVP NOW: https://lnkd.in/eTw2PaBH

Here’s our vision for the next 5 years of our family business: Family businesses are more than just companies—they’re legacies. They pass down the values, morals, and traditions that shape not only the next generation but also the communities around us. Growing up in a family business, I’ve learned this firsthand. Each generation has added their own chapter, but one thing has always remained true: the importance of building something that not only thrives but gives back. As we look ahead, our mission is clear: → Grow: We’ll continue expanding our reach, creating more opportunities for our team and community. → Build: We’ll invest in our people, ensuring our values—integrity, hard work, and respect—are at the core of everything we do. → Give Back: We’ll stay committed to serving the community that has supported us for generations. Family businesses have a unique responsibility, and we’re proud to carry that forward. Here's to the next 5 years of growing, building, and giving back—together. #BusinessGrowth #CommunityImpact #FamilyValues

These five children are future world-changers. Because our families have vision… 🌳 …for our family trees, committed to planting ones that are less about the past and more about the future we’re intentionally creating… 🤝 …for our relationships, knowing relational health (beginning in the family) is the foundation of care for our physical, mental, and emotional health… 🌅 …for our impact, creating a family culture of interdependence that means, “I serve us, so we can serve others.” That’s what I envisioned as I watched these five dear friends work together to raise a sail along the coast of Maine last week. Because of the work our families are doing together, our children are not coasting aimlessly. Instead, they’re embracing the power of relationships, connection, and collaboration. They’re setting the sails, charting the course, creating the future. Sadly, so many families are coasting, not having the support they need to raise the sail that is a clear and powerful vision - rooted in who you uniquely are, individually and collectively. Renala is out to change that. Your family doesn’t have to coast. The future of your family does not have to repeat the cycle of the past. And you don’t have to do it alone. Let’s work together to raise the sails of vision so you can have the impact you long for in your family - and your leadership in every sphere of your life. ⬇️⬇️⬇️ I’m launching a new online community in the next few weeks called The Family Circle to help more families step into a powerful vision. Drop a YES below if you want to stay in the loop! 📽: Co-creating life, family + business with Harris III & Kate Harris!
