No organization or person can stop me from personally talking about #PrideMonth and the strength and amazingness of the LGBTQ+ community. Why? Because, for some, it's literally life or death. That matters more to me than my comfort or the comfort of large organizations who will do just fine whether or not they support us. And if a company or person doesn't want me to personally advocate for human beings to stay alive and for marginalized communities to be treated equitably, that's a "them" problem, not a "me" problem. I'll sleep just fine at night, knowing I'm standing up for what's right and good in this world and standing up for all of God's children -- especially those most vulnerable. Here are some stats from The Trevor Project that you should read through, reflect on, and take action to improve. The facts are that anti-LGBTQ+ rhetoric and policies are hurting LGBTQ+ people, especially youth. We should all want our children to survive and thrive. That should not be controversial. ✨ LGBTQ+ History Month ✨ In case you didn't know, February is LGBTQ+ History month. Last week, we shared the first in our series of tips on how you can be a better ally to the LGBTQ+ community, and how checking your privilege helps you to be more supportive to all marginalised groups, not just LGBTQ+ people. 👉 Allyship Tip 2: Call it out! 👈 Don’t underestimate the power of calling out micro-aggressions, people using incorrect pronouns, deadnaming, inappropriate jokes, or general discriminatory comments. It shouldn’t be the responsibility of members of the LGBTQ+ community to have to always stand up for themselves and point out when people are wrong – it’s everyone’s responsibility! Whether there are LGBTQ+ people present or not, calling out this behaviour every time it happens will hopefully lead to a safer and more comfortable environment for your LGBTQ+ colleagues. #lgbtqhistorymonth #inclusion #allyship #podtalent

Just wrapped up the UNITY™ Programship at Females and Finance webinar on questions advisors should ask before working with the LGBTQ+ community. Great conversation and important stories and life experiences were shared. Thanks to everyone who joined! As a quick recap, here are the 5 questions (I know there are many more to pose) we focused on: 1. Do I really care about the LGBTQ+ community enough to build a significant part of my practice around it? 2. Does my brand identity align with the LGBTQ+ community? 3. Am I willing to be a public facing LGBTQ+ community supporter and risk backlash from other clients, business partners, and potentially colleagues? 4. Am I willing to admit to not knowing or understanding key aspects of the community and commit to learning what the community prioritizes and values? 5. Do I have LGBTQ+ centers of influence? Apologies to anyone who tried to get on but had difficulty with the link. Message me to meet to discuss the talking points and topic further. It's a conversation I welcome.

This Pride month, Rcoz is thinking of those who can’t always receive support from their family in their journey of self discovery. The Trevor Project, a leading organization dedicated to suicide prevention among LGBTQ+ youth, reveals that LGBTQ+ youth who feel high levels of social support from their families are less likely to attempt suicide. In fact, those who experience strong support attempt suicide at less than half the rate of those who feel moderate or low levels of support. This statistic emphasizes the significant role that families play in the mental health and well-being of LGBTQ+ youth. By fostering open communication, and emphasizing support, families can truly become a lifeline for their LGBTQ+ family members #Rcoz #MentalHealthAwareness #PrideMonth #LoveIsLove #AcceptanceMatters #ShareYourStory #youthstories #LGBTQAStories #Acceptance #YouAreNotAlone #June #ComingOut #Pride #Gay

✨ LGBTQ+ History Month ✨ In case you didn't know, February is LGBTQ+ History month. This month, we’ve been sharing tips on how you can be a better ally to the LGBTQ+ community, including how checking your own privilege helps you to be more supportive, calling out discrimination, and remembering that everyone is unique with individual lived experiences. 👉 Allyship Tip 4: Be receptive to feedback 👈 Being open, receptive and listening to feedback from other people is so important. They may want to highlight something you could have done differently, give some advice so you can be more supportive, or educate you on their lived experiences or those of the LGBTQ+ community. Listening, not being defensive when being corrected, and allowing the other person to share openly with you will all go towards enabling you to be a better ally and better support to your LGBTQ+ peers! #lgbtqhistorymonth #inclusion #allyship #podtalent

✨ LGBTQ+ History Month ✨ In case you didn't know, February is LGBTQ+ History month. Last week, to kick things off, Lucy Morgan and Seba Dyer joined a panel discussion for Campaign LGBTQ+ on allyship in the work place - there was some really interesting takeaways, so we thought we would share some of them throughout the month. 👉 Allyship Tip 1: Check your privilege 👈 Recognising your own privilege helps you to be more supportive to all marginalised groups, not just LGBTQ+ people. It forces you to view things through a different lens, and opens your eyes to inclusion. Reflecting and recognising your own unearned privileges in different aspects of your life allows you to support others who do not benefit in the same way and be a better ally to those who need it! #lgbtqhistorymonth #inclusion #allyship #podtalent
