🚚 Important Update for Transportation Professionals: Since June 2023, oral fluids testing for drug and alcohol compliance has offered practical benefits for roadside and post-crash scenarios, especially for truck drivers. Now, starting December 5, 2024, the U.S. DOT introduces stricter guidelines: Only the collector, employee, or a DOT representative can be present during the test. This ensures privacy and reliability, enhancing industry standards for safety and compliance. Make sure your team is trained and ready! #TransportationCompliance #OralFluidTesting #TruckDriverSafety

In 2015, Congress passed a federal law that would allow a truck driver's positive hair drug test results into the FMCSA's Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse. This law is essential for transportation companies to combat illegal drug use among commercial drivers. However, in almost 10 years, the federal bureaucracy has not implemented the law. It's time we did! 🛣️ #DrugTesting #RoadSafety #SaferRoadsForAll #Trucking #HairTesting

I’ve seen companies from 300 to 5000 drivers implement hair testing alongside DOT urine testing to address safety concerns, and here’s what I’ve learned: 1️⃣ Initially, there’s an uptick in disqualified candidates. 2️⃣ Within 90 days, you start seeing better-quality applicants. 3️⃣ Orientation attendance increases and stabilizes. 4️⃣ Over time, the fleet improves with fewer accidents related to impairment. It’s a strategic move that pays off in the long run.
Commercial truck drivers must pass a urine drug test before being hired. Most drivers who use illegal drugs easily escape detection — but not if they submit to a hair drug test. In fact, research concludes that if all drivers were required to pass a hair test, an additional 276,500 truck drivers would have been prohibited from driving between 2017-2022. Those drivers are likely out on US highways today and operating large trucks. Read more: https://bit.ly/3CDWB2v

December is Impaired Driving Awareness Month, a crucial time to remind everyone of the dangers of driving under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or any substance that impairs your ability to drive safely. Every year, impaired driving leads to countless accidents, injuries, and fatalities that could be prevented. Whether it's alcohol, prescription drugs, or marijuana, driving while impaired puts everyone on the road at risk. Let’s work together to: - Educate ourselves and others about the dangers of impaired driving. - Make safe choices—never drive under the influence. Use a designated driver, ride-sharing service, or public transportation. - Support enforcement efforts to keep roads safe for everyone. Remember, impaired driving isn't just illegal—it's dangerous. Let’s spread the message and protect our communities. #ImpairedDrivingAwareness #TarianCares #SafetyFirst
