We have an exciting update from our Beehive Adoption Program! Before winter, our beekeeping team split the hives to create new colonies for spring. By taking frames of food, pollen, and brood, along with introducing a new queen, we ensured strong, healthy starts for these new hives. We've been busy feeding them sugar syrup to provide essential nourishment throughout the winter months, ensuring they have the energy to thrive come springtime. Now, as we transition into spring, our beekeeping team is hard at work conducting hive inspections. We're checking on our bees' overall health, assessing their food reserves, and ensuring proper ventilation for optimal hive conditions. We're also on the lookout for potential pests and scouting nearby nectar-yielding crops to forecast this year's honey production. Why are we doing this? It’s all part of our sustainability drive to become more eco-friendly, lower our carbon footprint and make a positive difference to the planet. We want our customers to know that our green mentality doesn’t just exist in our visual identity; it runs through the core of our business operations. 📣[New Blog Post] on #FoodWaste from World Wildlife Fund📣 Alex Nichols-Vinueza and Jessica Beck from WWF has shared the third and final post in a series of blogs exploring why collecting on-farm data via the #GlobalFarmLossTool matters and has the power to unlock solutions in the supply chain to reduce loss and reduce the footprint of our food system. This final post also sets out some of the plans post-launch (set for this April 2024), including how WWF will continue to work with members of the CGF Food Waste Coalition to workshop with growers on how to improve the tool’s user experience, expand its utility in the field and for more food types across the global supply chain, and promote its usage to new growers and suppliers.
