Next week is Startupfest in Montreal, and I am super pumped to meet innovators across multiple industries. I know that access to the event is sometimes not accessible to everyone, so here are ways you can still participate if you’re in the Montreal area: 1. Attend FREE networking events around Startup Fest. Some highlights: * Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec (CDPQ) is running a workshop on raising capital, growing sales, and executing corporate strategies with seasoned industry professionals. * Front Row Ventures has a networking event for young people in tech. * Rep Matters is hosting an evening filled with food, art, and amazing people. 2. If you’re a startup founder looking for affordable ways to attend: * BDC’s Women in Technology Bootcamp is organizing a half-day event that connects women founders and leaders of technology companies with the resources they need to grow their businesses. * Queer founders have the opportunity to apply for a special $50 ticket to attend Startup Fest courtesy of QueerTech. All the links to these will be in the comments section! I hope this is helpful to anyone building a company, a professional looking to break into tech, or a student interested in tech. #startupfest #mtl #queertech #techconference #networking

Until you're part of the Techstars portfolio, it's hard to truly understand how being part of it makes you feel. If you're a #startup and want to apply for an #accelerator program, there's no doubt where you should apply and fight hard to be accepted - because you won't regret it! At Techstars, there will be #knowledge, #challenges, and tough times, but above all, there are #people - an entire ecosystem that's there for you forever. They're ready to listen, help and connect you with others who can assist. This isn't just a program; it's a lifelong #community. I loved my experience there. I met people who became friends, #startups and #mentors, who will be with me forever. And no, I'm not exaggerating. If you think I am, it's because you're not a Techstars company yet. So, go back to point one: become one! Thank you, and happy 5th anniversary, Techstars Transformative World Torino ! #TechstarsTurin #StartupAccelerator #EntrepreneurshipJourney

Why women need better options for wealth management : Research studies have found that these sentiments were more pervasive than we could have imagined. For example: - Making more than $250,000 a year don’t feel in control of their money. - Women, particularly women of color, are still , sorely underrepresented in the financial services industry, meaning a woman who needs a financial advisor most likely won’t be working with someone who understands her. This is despite the research that women investors perform better. - When a spouse dies, 70% of women, will leave the financial institution they shared within the first year. #womenintech #wealthmanagementforwomen #fintech #Financialservicessolutions #Digitalestateplanning

❓“What is the business decision you made that has really impacted the EIT Deep Tech Talent Initiative? " 🤔This question, asked by a sharp colleague at a workshop in Milan last March, has made me think. 1️⃣If I had to choose one decision, it would be this: listening to our partners. 🤝🏽 The Deep Tech Talent Initiative is achieving its objectives through its partners. 🎯 To reach our goal of 1 million talents, we need our pledgers. They create training programs, they find the students, and they run the courses. 👂That’s why it is crucial for me and the team to be in contact with our pledgers, to listen to their insights, and to gather what are their interests, motivations, and expectations upon joining the initiative. 🔝As the project has reached its midterm, I am setting myself a new priority. 🔗Back in late March, our network had over 100 pledgers. 📞Of all the project tasks, I paid special attention to outreach. I would take calls with prospects, debrief with our excellent Head of Outreach Francesca Barisani, PhD, reach out to my own network, and encourage others to pass contacts. 💕Thanks to many colleagues, with special mention of Margarita Abakova and our AB member Caroline Mol. 📈 Now, in early July, thanks to these team efforts, our number of partners nears 370. 👫👭Hence, my new priority will be connecting, talking to, and meeting pledgers online and in real life. 👂Keeping my ear close to the ground. ❔Asking: what do you want from the Deep Tech Talent Initiative? How can we help you? How can we achieve our goal together? 🇪🇺All in order to have an impact on the deep tech ecosystem in Europe.

Armine Galstyan, a Principal at SmartGateVC discusses her journey of a young Armenian woman supporting Deep Tech Founders in the Forbes article by Melissa Houston, CPA. Here are the key takeaways shared by Armine: 1) Pre-seed companies often require mentorship, technical insight, and a clear roadmap. 2) It is important for investors to ask right questions: - Do the founders have the right expertise? - Is the IP and technology meaningful? - Can we add value? 3) The goal to become a partner in their success, not a mere investor. 4) Building ecosystems is critical: - Hero House is the space (Yerevan and in LA) where founders, researchers, and investors exchange ideas and build lasting connections. - The impact lies in the sense of founder community, where challenges are shared, and victories are celebrated. 👉 Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/dyV4vQGB

Human Ingenuity 💪🏾 People are powering the future and it is because of collaboratives like our Miami Tech Works coalition. Last week’s discussions on the MainStage of eMerge Americas put front and center the work of the leadership of our coalition — kudos to Terri-Ann Brown Antonio Delgado Fornaguera and Lab22c’s very own Caryn Lavernia and the countless industry/institutional partners in impact. Thank you Melissa Medina for spotlighting this initiative during Emerge which has brought $10M of U.S. Economic Development Administration Good Job Challenge dollars to our Miami.
