Unlocking the True Value of Craft Breweries In today's competitive market, understanding how the market values your craft brewery is crucial for making informed decisions that maximize shareholder value. Just as investors use detailed, quantitative models, craft brewery managers should also have a deep understanding of their company's valuation. Here are six key factors that drive valuations: Revenue Growth: Forecasts of growth in company revenue are essential. For craft breweries, this means expanding your market reach and increasing sales. Margin Growth: Improving profit margins by optimizing production processes and reducing costs can significantly impact your valuation. Cash Returns to Shareholders: Patterns of cash returned to shareholders, such as dividends, play a vital role. Debt-to-Equity Ratio: Managing your debt levels relative to equity is crucial for financial stability. Industry Economic Conditions: The overall economic conditions in the craft brewing industry can influence your company's valuation. Market Volatility: The geographic areas where your brewery operates can affect market volatility and, consequently, your valuation. By focusing on these factors, craft brewery owners can better navigate the market, identify opportunities, and mitigate threats. Whether it's enhancing shareholder value, making strategic acquisitions, or understanding market dynamics, a data-driven approach to valuation is essential for success in the craft brewing industry.

Zoom in: The beer and spirits industry has moved to cans as the #packaging choice on retail shelves. Why? Spirits, no-alcohol and low-alcohol brands believe cans offer brand differentiation (I agree). My latest article in Food Engineering Magazine reveals how small and big #brewers have invested in #automation and process optimization at the plant level. Big takeaways below: • To offer more diversity of brands, grocery stores have cut into that: ‘You can use cans or you can use bottles.’ That has forced producers to assess what is selling better,” says Pfriem. “Looking at all the trends across the board, the consumer is heavily leaning toward cans.” • With these industry drivers, regional craft brewer Lakefront Brewery transitioned from bottles to cans and unified its control system at its Milwaukee plant. • (Sapporo USA) The control logic and HMIs are connected via Sepasoft’s Batch Procedure module, based on the International Society of Automation’s (ISA) 88 standard. “These built-in components, like the batch monitor, batch control and recipe editors, are built in (to the module),” says Fred Zaboli, principal engineer at Wunderlich-Malec Engineering. “There’s no need to write code or scripting to get to that point. Today's topic: The efficiency and quality in the brewhouse. The next-generation GEA Lauterstar 2.0 sets a new benchmark for efficiency and quality in the brewhouse. Proven through practical trials in breweries across Austria and the Netherlands, this advanced lautering technology delivers remarkable results: net lautering times have been reduced to just 70 minutes, with extraction efficiency reaching an impressive 98.7%. In one project, the Lauterstar 2.0 enabled up to 14 brews per day, while an upgrade to an existing lauter tun increased production from 5 to 8.5 brews per day for another customer. This innovation redefines productivity and brewing excellence. GEA Group #industrialmeeting #technology #lauteringprocess #innovation https://lnkd.in/dg9UrEiX
