In today's rapidly evolving agricultural landscape, the role of #farmdatacollection and #farmmanagement has become increasingly important. As centres of research and innovation, agricultural universities play a crucial role in harnessing the power of agricultural data to drive progress in the sector. In the #Erasmus+ #BASIS project, one of the main focuses is to establish continuous #farmdatacollection and #datamanagement at universities in #Togo, #Senagal and #Uganda. It is a complex process with many steps to be taken to bring universities #back2farmers. In one year of the project, we have taken many of these steps together with our partner universities. [𝐁𝐎𝐎𝐓𝐂𝐀𝐌𝐏 𝐊𝐈𝐂𝐊𝐒 𝐎𝐅𝐅] The #AgriTech4Egypt Innovation Challenge Bootcamp commenced its activities today with a welcome session, immersing the 25 global innovation teams in the economics of Egypt's agricultural sector, including its sub-sectors, crop production statistics, employment and data on imports/exports. - Omniya el Baghdadi, PhD and Amr Rizk, Chemonics Egypt Consultants addressed the specific challenges induced by #climate change, such as water scarcity, heatwaves, and extreme weather events on main crops, and their social impacts on the sector 🌍 - Roberto Vitón, Founder & Managing Director, Valoral Advisors discussed the state of the #agritech landscape in Egypt and the MENA region ⚙️ - Justus Harm, Co-Manager of the egyptian biodynamic association ebda and Head of the Economy of Love Standard highlighted best practices and market opportunities, with a focus on the SEKEM farm, whose pioneering approach is setting new and ambitious benchmarks in the agricultural sector in Egypt🌾 Participants also enjoyed a guided field trip to learn about crops and sustainable farming practices, as well as on-site storage, production, and manufacturing centers. 📢 Follow us for more updates on the AgriTech4Egypt Innovation Challenge activities. Sahara Consult: Cultivating Innovation in Tanzania's Agriculture and Education Sector The #SaharaConsult team recently had a productive visit to AGRIEDO Hub in Iringa, Tanzania. The team had the pleasure of meeting with representatives from the organization and engage in discussions on leveraging technology to empower the agriculture and Education sector. The conversation covered a range of topics, including: ▶ Strategies for enhancing agricultural productivity through technological advancements. The team explored ongoing and upcoming agritech projects with the potential to improve Tanzania's agricultural landscape. ▶ Mastercard Foundation EdTech Fellowship. The team shared valuable insights on fellowship program, designed to support the development of innovative educational technologies across Africa. This collaborative exchange highlighted the crucial role of technology in transforming Tanzania's agricultural sector. Sahara Consult looks forward to exploring ways to bridge the gap between agritech solutions and educational opportunities for Tanzanians.
