A nationwide cohort study in Taiwan investigated the impact of adjunctive Chinese medicine therapy on non-small cell lung cancer patients. The findings suggested that receiving Chinese medicine alongside conventional treatments, particularly for 181-365 days, reduced the mortality risk among stage IV patients. Respirometry, once limited to specialized labs, is now more accessible thanks to advancements in technology. The Seahorse® automated plate reader enables high-throughput analysis by measuring oxygen consumption and proton extrusion rates, while the latest Oroboros® high-resolution oxygraphs allow parallel assessment of respiration rates, mitochondrial membrane potential, and ROS production.
