In the heart of South Africa, an innovative actuarial initiative took root, transforming lives and communities. By designing tailored microinsurance products, actuaries ensured that even the most vulnerable segments of society had access to financial protection. This not only shielded families from unexpected financial burdens but also empowered them to pursue opportunities without the fear of unforeseen setbacks. This success story stands as a testament to the positive impact actuarial science can have on socio-economic development. #InnovativeActuarialInitiative #TransformingLives #MicroinsuranceInnovation

It was an absolute honor and pleasure to attend the annual Actuarial Society of Zimbabwe convention this year where the theme was Actuaries as Strategic Partners: Building a sustainable financial ecosystem for Zimbabwe. To have been a part of such an event where like minded people connect and interact is not to be taken for granted. My favorite takeway from the convention was soft skills presentation by Michael Tichareva because as actuaries we are used to number crunching and it was refreshing to learn about skills other than quantitative skills. #ASZConvention2024 #ActuariesForSustainability #BuildingAZimFinancialFuture #StrategicPartnershipsInAction #SustainableFinanceEcosystemZim*

Which actuary are you actually!? In my interactions with my friends and colleagues who are actuaries I've come across 3 types of actuaries: 🤓The Arrogant one - they know it all and you must know! (1st bar in the image) 😧The Afraid one - they've gone through those rigorous exams and are practicing but think they are a fluke! (2nd bar in the image) 🫡The Ahead one - they just want to get their work done! (3rd bar in the image) Yesterday at the Actuarial Society of Zimbabwe Convention 2024 I asked the audience which one they see themselves as. Some said 'other' (last bar in the image) is when you are a combination of all 3. Here are the results! Which actuary are you or which one do you know!? 😅 #ASZConvention2024 #Careers #Data #Technology
